ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY COUNCIL ENERGY TRANSITION SUBCOMMITTEE Thursday, April 4, 2019 at Thomas Jefferson Middle School Library MINUTES CALL TO ORDER: Members: Tim Stevens (Chair), Thomas Cash, Jon Ward, Andy Skallaris, Erika Myers, Dan Sze (city council liaison) Public Speakers – several students from Georgetown University (pursuing degrees related to sustainability) asked about programs in the City aimed at furthering sustainability goals. The committee shared information about various programs and achievements in the City. Ongoing Business - Promotion of EVs: Tim updated the committee on the effort to sign a contract with EVgo to place two EV fast charge stations (Level 3) on a City-owned parking lot. Several issues regarding contract terms and conditions remain open. - Modifications to EV personal property taxes: Tom discussed ongoing efforts to investigate possibilities to reduce the personal property tax on newly purchased EVs for City residents. - Erika and Tim discussed a letter intended for Dominion Energy Virginia (Scott Reamy) requesting financial assistance for EV school buses, and charging stations for multi-family residences in the City. The letter is intended to be signed by Wyatt Shields and Dr. Peter Noonan. Adjournment
