CITY OF FALLS CHURCH
HOUSING COMMISION MINUTES
PURPOSE OF MEETING: The five-member Commission is appointed by the City Council for
three-year terms. The Housing Commission maintains awareness of housing needs and
opportunities, including affordable housing; proposes housing policy initiatives and changes;
investigates fair housing complaints and conciliates these complaints; mediates conflicts relating
to the Virginia Residential Landlord & Tenant Act and offers reconciliatory services in conflicts
relating to other housing laws.

Fund Application and discussed next steps
1. Letty Hardi asked about timing for the Council approval for the
application
a. Brenden Woodley discussed timing
ii. Working on the Affordable Housing Report
iii. Looking to fill units in Founder’s Row and Northgate
iv. Looking for ways to expand waitlist for new ADU units coming online
b. Affordable Housing Fund Committee – Jordan Hicks
i. Committee met and approved application
ii. Housing and Human Services and Housing Commission will present to
Council for final approval
iii. Jordan Hicks moved to vote in approval of the Application

c. Virginia Village and Affordable Homeownership Program - Brenden Woodley
i. Discussed unit issues that prevented closing and marketing efforts
1. Meredith requested more detail on marketing and translation
2. Brenden noted that translations have been prepared and are now
being added to the website.
ii. Virginia Village is still moving towards closing and is pending application
submission
4. Housing Commission Goals – Meredith Anderson
a. Unhoused Support
i. Julene Journot noted the last community needs assessment was in 1994
and valuable for making assessments for the unhoused community
ii. Add agenda for the meeting at future date
b. Community Engagement
i. Use the flyer handout as a handout
c. The Fields
i. Discussed the dire need of coming up with solutions for the Fields and
discussed situation with incoming commissioner

comments will be provided to the Housing Commission members and comments received by the deadline will be read
during the meeting.
