Page 1 of 2 MINUTES Human Services Advisory Council City of Falls Church PURPOSE OF MEETING: To advise City Council on human services delivery to Falls Church citizens. DATE OF MEETING: November 19, 2015 PLACE OF MEETING: Oak Room, 3rd floor East, City Hall MEETING CALLED TO ORDER BY: Vicki Barnes at 6:30p.m. THOSE PRESENT: HSAC Members: Staff: Vicki Barnes Sue Richter Craig Cheney Alisa Macht City Council Liaison Marybeth Connelly PETITIONS: No Petitions were presented APPROVAL OF MINUTES: No Minutes Presented OLD BUSINESS:  Services for Older Adults- At an earlier meeting of HSAC, a speaker did a presentation on aging communities and models for Aging-in-Community/Villages. This presentation has not been presented to City Council. HSAC members would like staff to look at having this presented to City Council at a work session. They feel it would be extremely informative. They would like to revisit this topic at the next HSAC meeting and provide materials to the new HSAC member. The group would like copies of the flyer that HHS prepared on Senior Services in the City. They would like this to be distributed, again, throughout the City. HSAC members will do the distribution and City staff will prepare the copies for them. Sue Richter will secure the copies and deliver them to HSAC members. NEW BUSINESS:  Community Services Fund for FY2017 – Sue distributed some historical information about the fund as well as first quarter data reports received from the current grantees. The 2017 application packets and information notices were mailed out on November 12 and the applications are due December 14, 2015. Once the applications are received, staff will prepare them for distribution to HSAC members, with a distribution date set for December 21st at the latest. The schedule will be:  Page 2 of 2 o January 21 – presentations from new applications and those wishing to address the committee o February18 – determine funding recommendations o March 1 – funding recommendations given to City Council o End of April final City budget approval which includes the CFS  2105 Year Data – was distributed and reviewed with the committee. This was date from Fairfax County Family Services, Health Department Community Services Board and Housing and Human Services.
