Page 1 of 2 MINUTES Human Services Advisory Council City of Falls Church PURPOSE OF MEETING: To advise City Council on human services delivery to Falls Church citizens. OLD BUSINESS: • Affordable Housing Policy HSAC is planning a joint meeting with the Housing Commission to review the City’s Affordable Housing Policy. Craig asked members to submit questions or issues to discuss with the Housing Commission so that we can put together an agenda for a meeting in late spring or early summer. The Housing Commission is amenable to the joint meeting. NEW BUSINESS: • Community Services Fund program data for FY 2016 Sue presented year end Fiscal Year 2016 statistics from the Community Services Fund grantees. • Community Services Fund FY 2017 program change request Shelter House was granted funds in Fiscal Year 2017 to provide rent to families living at Ives House. They are now changing the scope of the program to rent to one family who will use a Housing Choice Voucher. The families in residence are being relocated. Shelter House requested to repurpose their $5,500 in unspent funds to assist with the relocation expenses and to pay some rent for the house during the time it is unoccupied. Members unanimously voted to allow $2,500 to be used for relocation expenses and will allocate the remaining $3,000 to other grantees at the December HSAC meeting. Page 2 of 2 STAFF REPORT: • Nancy reported that staff met with Bob Young and the management at the Reed Building to discuss the Teacher Workforce Units. Mr. Young had expressed dissatisfaction with the number of teachers who have been able to take advantage of the units. A strategy was developed to increase the number of teachers versus school staff or city staff who occupy those units. MEETING ADJOURNMENT: The meeting adjourned at 7:35 p.m. The next meeting is scheduled for December 15, 2016 at 6:30 pm.
