Page 1 of 2 MINUTES Human Services Advisory Council City of Falls Church PURPOSE OF MEETING: To advise City Council on human services delivery to Falls Church citizens. DATE OF MEETING: December 21, 2017 PLACE OF MEETING: Oak Room, City Hall MEETING CALLED TO ORDER BY: Nicole Newman at 6:31 p.m. THOSE PRESENT: HSAC Members: Staff: Craig Cheney Nancy Vincent Alisa Macht City Council Liaison Nicole Newman (chair) Marybeth Connolly Anne Norloff Student Representative Debra Roth Tahaseen Shaik OTHERS IN ATTENDANCE: Scott Adams, Greg Reigle APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Minutes from October 19, 2017 were approved. NEW BUSINESS: Review of proposed mixed-use development at Broad and Washington Representatives of the developer at Broad and Washington spoke about the proposed mixed-use project. HSAC will submit their recommendations about the project to City Council. FY 2017 year end data reports Members reviewed year end reports from contracted services with Fairfax County. Community Services Fund process Applicants to the Community Services Fund will have the opportunity to speak to HSAC at the January meeting. Members specifically requested to hear from American Legion, Falls Church Housing Corporation, Best Buddies, and Homestretch. Officer election The motion was made to elect Alisa Macht as co-chair for the January meeting so she could serve as chair in the event Nicole is unable to attend. Motion passed. STAFF REPORT  The Housing and Human Services offices moved today. They are now located in the Gage House at the back of the City Hall/Community Center parking lot.  Page 2 of 2  Departments will be submitting proposed budgets mid-January. There will likely not be increases.
