MINUTES Human Services Advisory Council City of Falls Church PURPOSE OF MEETING: To advise City Council on human services delivery to Falls Church citizens. Roth Tahaseen Shaik Miles Heffernan APPROVAL OF MINUTES – The minutes from October 17, 2019 and November 21, 2019 were approved. MEMBER REPORTS: None OLD BUSINESS:  Northern Virginia Juvenile Detention Center study Regarding the study, members asked about costs of serving youth at the NVJDC vs the Fairfax County Juvenile Detention Center. They are concerned about the facility being outdated.  Community Services Fund process Members asked to interview the new applicants, Northern Virginia Dental Clinic and Cri, Inc. as well as Unity Club and Healing House. NEW BUSINESS:  Planning for 2020 Members would like to review contract costs in order to compare the cost of purchasing services from Arlington County vs Fairfax County. Members requested that the following Proclamations be planned for 2020: April: Child Abuse Prevention Awareness (partner with SCAN of Northern Virginia) April: Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention May: Mental Health Awareness September: Suicide Prevention Awareness October: Domestic Violence Awareness October: Substance Abuse Prevention (partner with Unity Club) October: Disability Employment Awareness (plan an activity with the Chamber of Commerce) ADJOURN: The meeting adjourned at 7:46 p.m. SIGNATURE OF RECORDER: Nancy Vincent The City of Falls Church is committed to the letter and spirit of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
