PURPOSE OF MEETING: To advise City Council on human services delivery to Falls Church
citizens.

APPROVAL of MINUTES: The minutes from the May 12, 2021 special meeting and May 20,
2021 regular meeting were approved.
NEW BUSINESS:
• Review and approval of Rent Relief payments for seniors and persons with disabilities
Mr. Patel presented information about the Rent Relief program and asked for approval of
allocations for FY 2022. The motion to approve was seconded and passed unanimously.
• Report on the City of Falls Church Affordable Housing Fund
Ms. Lewis presented information on the City’s Affordable Housing Fund.
• Discussion of citizenship requirement for participation in boards and commissions
Ms. Lewis explained that the City charter requires that participants in boards and
commissions be eligible voters. The Housing Commission has requested that this be
changed in order to allow participation by others. HSAC members were in support of this
change.
OLD BUSINESS:
• Social equity community training update
Ms. Roth gave an update on planning for a community training. A request was made to
collect demographic information in the future in order to aid in outreach for grant programs.
STAFF REPORT:
• Ms. Lewis explained support being given to vulnerable residents for rent and utilities
through the Community Development Block Grant and Virginia Rent Relief Program.
• Logistics are being discussed for eventual in-person meetings.
