Discussion continued on where street lights will be located and how many receptacles for vendors, tree lights, and other electric needs will be necessary. The MRA wants to eventually replace the current street lights, but may not be able to do that at the same time the electrical replacement is installed. Mr. Armenta suggested replacing the current street lights with LED bulbs. He also suggested placing high and low receptacles at each street light. The MRA Commissioners asked that a street light be placed west of Artifacts based on suggestions from a lighting consultant. Cindy Lopez commented that it would not be beneficial to replace the street lights until the streetscape was done for the Complete Streets Project. Mr. Armenta asked to coordinate with the MRA on the placement of the street lights for the new streetscape. Commissioner McNeill discussed the need for a high outlet on the street lights to attach a Wi-Fi router in order to obtain continuous Wi-Fi reception throughout the downtown area. Dr. McNeill asked that fiber optic be put in at the same time the trench was dug for the electrical replacement. Mr. Armenta offered to look into the possibility of the City providing the fiber optic material and to have an answer for the MRA Commissioners by their next meeting on August, 18, 2016. 4. Civic Center Concepts Update-Cory Styron Cory Styron, Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs (PRCA) Director for the City of Farmington presented a packet on the concepts of the Civic Center upgrade. Mr. Styron discussed the different options that were presented to the City Council. The concepts that were chosen were to expand the Civic Center to the north and to use Landscaping Concept B. The north expansion, explained Mr. Styron, will add approximately 5,000 square feet and seat an additional 200 people. This addition will allow Farmington to host larger venues. The Landscape Concept will include a variety of plants, lighting, a water feature and paving options to promote festivals, outdoor concerts, and weddings. Commissioner Polston asked that if light posts were used that they complement the light post design that is currently proposed for the downtown area. Ed Bulloch commented that he would like to see the metal apple sculpture preserved in the new landscape design. Cindy Lopez mentioned that the plan included keeping and restoring the apple sculpture. 5. Brownfield Grant Update-Cory Styron Mr. Styron reported that PRCA did not receive the Brownfield Grant. The consultant who wrote the application was very disappointed and has offered to write for the grant next year for free. Staff, along with the consultant, had a phone conference with EPA to go over the grant with suggestions for next year. 8.
