Forty Fort Borough Council Meeting Monday October 7, 2024 The October 7, 2024, meeting for Forty Fort Borough Council was held at the Forty Fort Borough Building, 1271 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, PA with president, Thomas J. Murray III presiding. Call to order Gavel strike of President of Council Thomas Murray called tonight’s meeting to order at 6:00 PM. Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag Reverend Lukish lead the prayer and Mayor Brian Thomas lead the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll Call President Thomas Murray ordered a roll call. Members in attendance were President Thomas Murray, Vice President Cara Devine, Phil Mertz, Dave Sieminski, Kristy Dadurka, Frank Mazza, Borough Manager Bonnie Arnone, Borough Mayor Brian Thomas, Borough Secretary Michele Pascarella, Solicitor Greg Skibitsky, Code Enforcement Officer Thomas Craig, Code Chief Dan Hunsinger and DPW Supervisor Rick Kamus. Sara Michaels was absent. There were 10 visitors in attendance. Public Comments Tori Carey of the Forty Fort Recreation Board stated they are in full swing this week getting ready for the Fall Festival, which is on October 12, 2024, from 2PM to 6PM at Camryn Way. The rain date will be October 13, 2024, from 2PM-6PM. The Recreation Board thanked Rick Kamus and the DPW department for all their help and thanked the Borough for supplying the porta potties and lights. Trunk or Treat is up to 20 trunks. The Recreation Board will be on PA Live to promote and there was a commercial on radio station 105. They will also be on WNEP on Thursday October 10, 2024, from 4:30 AM to 7:00 AM. Tori thanked and said how proud of her team for all that they do. The Recreation Board also stated that they still need volunteers for Saturday. Consent Agenda Matters listed on the consent agenda have been referred to members of the Borough Council for reading and study, are routine and will be enacted by one motion of Council. If separate discussion is desired, the item will be removed from the Consent Agenda by Council action. The resolutions listed below are submitted by Borough Council for review and will be adopted by one motion. These items were presented to the council at the prior month’s work session for review. All were in favor. Motion passed. Council Action Items A motion was made by Cara Devine to pay all bills as presented and seconded by Frank Mazza. All were in favor. Motion passed. A motion was made by Cara Devine to advertise Ordinance #4 to enter into an agreement with the WVSA for the long-term operation and maintenance obligations for the WVSA regional Abraham’s Creek Stream Bank Restoration Project located in the Borough of Forty Fort and was seconded by Phil Mertz. All were in favor. Motion passed. A motion was made by Cara Devine to accept an agreement referenced in proposed Ordinance 4 and was seconded by Phil Mertz. All were in favor. Motion passed. A motion was made by Cara Devin to pay DJ Wojciechowski $2,500.00 stipend for work at the Sports Complex and was seconded by Dave Sieminski. All were in favor. Motion passed. New Business Electronic recycle event on October 24, 2024, from 3-6 PM at the Sport Complex fields Budget committee meeting set for Wednesday October 9, 2024, at 6:PM Civil Service Commission update- Sara Michaels (Sara was absent from the meeting) Around the Table Kristy Dadurka gave a shout out and thanked the Recreation Board for all they have been doing. Mayor Brian Thomas stated the speed signs are installed and are already showing signs of vehicles slowing down. He thanks Rick Kamus, the DPW crew, Bonnie Arnone and Assistant Chief Michaels for all that was done in ordering and completing this project. Mayor Thomas thanked Wyoming Seminary school for paying for the signs and paying for the engineering. Mayor Thomas and Chief Hunsinger have had numerous conversations about extra police being on duty on election day so that all will be safe and smooth. Chief Hunsinger thanked the Solicitors Greg Skibitsky and Lars Anderson and the current Civil Service Commission for the great job they are doing. Ray Elias stated that him and Fire Chief Zavada spoke and wondered if they could submit their hours directly to the Borough instead of Kingston as they have found hours missing Thomas Craig stated the Quality-of-Life meeting was very productive. He will have a draft of what was discussed and what is wanted to be changed next week. Rick Kamus said the wires for the cameras in the park will be pulled tomorrow Tuesday October 8,2024. All cameras are in stock. The DPW crew next week will be working on the Crickett field. Rick asked Council if they would mind if the DPW crew could help out Larksville with paving a road. Everyone agreed with helping. Executive Session To discuss pending litigation Council went into Executive Session at 6:26 PM. Adjournment Council meeting was adjourned at 7:00 PM by a motion from Ms. Devine & seconded by Mr. Mazza. The next meeting will be a work session held on Monday October 21, 2024, at 6:00PM.
