MINUTES
January 7, 2021
1. CALL TO ORDER
Chair John Borack called the January 7, 2021 Regular Meeting for the Advisory Committee for
Persons with Disabilities to order at 6:03p.m.
2. INTRODUCTIONS/ROLL CALL
Members Present: Herman Ajamian, John Borack, Kayla Borack, Leonard Santoro, Phil Nisco,
Gary Osterbach, Susanne Seiden, Jan Werts
Members Absent: Terry Coakley, Ramon Galvez-Arango, Lawrence Judson, and Anna Nagmay
Staff Present: City Liaison, Yvette E. Aguliar, Community Services Manager
Secretary, Neda Alikhani, Recreation Specialist
Councilmembers Present: Kim Constantine
2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM NOVEMBER 5, 2020
Motion to approve November 2020 minutes by Committee Member Nisco. Seconded by
Committee Member Osterbach. Motion carried 7-0, with 1 abstaining to vote by Committee
Member Ajamian.
3. OLD BUSINESS
A. Social Media Campaign - Rachel Osterbach will be the first featured in the Sportlight
Series campaign. Community Services Manager Yvette Aguliar shares that the link
will be sent out when available. Chair Borack wants to loop in Assistant to the City
Manager, Maggie Le, to promote on the City of Fountain Valley social media or
newsletter. Aguliar states that the Subcommittee for social media campaign would
need to meet to schedule in advance so Le can plan out her calendar. Aguliar and
Chair Borack request all board members share campaign stories. Vice-Chair Seiden
suggests a story on Committee Member Terry Coakley.
B. Disability Friendly Business Awards - Committee Member Nisco proposed
connecting with tenants who have disabilities for Business Award nominations at
Green Valley; through the community gazette. Councilmember Kim Constantine states
that the Advisory Committee should look into other sources for nominations and that
due to COVID, in-person recognition at City Council meetings may not be feasible
immediately. Chair Borack states that the Advisory Committee has until October to
push awards. Discussion tabled until future meeting.
Chair Borack states that honoring two students from the Special Education program
won’t be possible due to online learning.
4. NEW BUSINESS
A. Update on Virtual Zoom Dance, December 11 - Chair Borack reported that the virtual
dance was a success, and had up to 30 participants at once. Target gift cards were raffled
and mailed, and people enjoyed the evening.
B. Upcoming Virtual Zoom Dance, Friday, February 5 - Committee Member Osterbach
states that dances are very successful. Aguliar encouraged all Committee Members to
attend dance. Aguiliar will email past participates, update social media, and add
participants to the distribution list. Aguliar will send a zoom link shortly before the dance
to avoid “zoom bombers.”
C. Virtual Dance, April 2, 2021 Dance - Aguliar and Committee Member Osterbach suggest
a change of date due to Good Friday. Virtual dance officially changes to April 9, 2021
5. PUBLIC COMMENTS – No comments
6. COMMITTEE COMMENTS
A. Aguliar announced that applications for two-year committee appointments are due
January 22, 2021. There are no automatic reappointments.
B. Aguliar announces that Councilmember Kim Constantine is the new Council
Liaison and Mayor Michael Vo is the alternate.
7. ADJOURNMENT
Chair Borack adjourned the meeting at 6:44 p.m.

The Advisory Committee for Persons with Disabilities has been tasked with:
Assisting City departments in implementation of guidelines for accessible facilities;
Facilitating development of recreational programs useable by persons with disabilities;
Obtaining information concerning special recreation equipment;
Facilitating development of barrier-free buildings and facilities within the city;
Working with various levels of education on the development & implementation of programs to
assure maximum integration for students with disabilities;
Developing community awareness of employment potentials of persons with disabilities.
