MINUTES
March 4, 2022
1. CALL TO ORDER
Chair John Borack called the March 4, 2022 regular meeting for the Advisory Committee for
Persons with Disabilities to order at 6:03 p.m.
2. ROLL CALL/INTRODUCTIONS
Members Present: Herman Ajamian, John Borack, Kayla Borack, Richard King, Leonard
Santoro, Susanne Seiden, Nora Webb, and Jan Werts
Members Absent: Ramón Gálvez-Arango, Philip Nisco and Scott Quinlan
Staff Present: City Liaison, Jenni Worsham, Community Services Manager
Neda Alikhani, Recreation Specialist
Councilmembers Present: None
Public: Bob and Debbie Paul
3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM January 6, 2022
• Motion to approve meeting minutes made with corrections from January 6, 2022 brought
1st by Committee Member Leonard Santoro, 2nd by Committee Member Nora Webb.
Motion approved 8-0.
4. OLD BUSINESS
A. Social Media Campaign – Spotlight Series
a. Quarterly in months of January, April, July, October- Jenni Worsham, Community
Services Manager, reported that Spotlight Series updates are posted on the City
website.
b. To be recognized: October - Committee Member Herman Ajamian
c. Future Recommendations- January 2023 Spotlight feature will be decided at a
future meeting.
5. NEW BUSINESS
A. Dances
a. Update on Virtual Zoom Dance – Friday, February 4, 2022, Valentine’s theme-
Chair John Borack reported a very busy, successful, and engaging dance with
over 40 attendees
b. Next Dance Date – Friday, April 1, 2022 – Virtual or in-person format to be
decided after a survey is sent to all dance participants by Jenni Worsham,
Community Services Manager, gauging interest in attending an in-person, mask-
less dance. Discussion tabled until results of survey are calculated.
c. Future Dance Calendar – determine format based on survey for April Dance
i. June Dance- Motion to change the Friday, June 3, 2022 dance
date to Friday, June 10, 2022 brought 1st by Committee Member
Leonard Santoro, 2nd by Committee Member Nora Webb. Motion
approved 8-0.
B. Awards Program Marketing Updates – Jenni Worsham, Community Services
Manager, presented an initial draft of the updated Awards Program application and
promotion flyer. Committee members requested updates, which will be made and
posted to the city website once approved.
C. City updates – Jenni Worsham
a. Updates about concerns for the “path of travel” in community shopping centers
were presented. Fountain Valley’s ADA Compliance Officer stated that since
shopping centers are privately owned, all concerns must be directed to the
Planning Department. They will then meet with owners to discuss further action.
b. The sound level of the requested audible pedestrian push buttons have been
increased.
D. Other Recreational Programming opportunities – Fountain Valley Community
Foundation Board Member, Matt Taylor, requested the Advisory Committee for Persons
with Disabilities collaboration and recommendation in planning the Community
Foundation 5k Race.
6. PUBLIC COMMENTS
• No comment.
7. COMMITTEE COMMENTS / Items for Future Consideration
• Committee Member Nora Webb discussed the concern for mental health in the
community and the increase of person experience homeless in parks. Jenni Worsham,
Community Services Manager, stated that the City Council has approved a contract with
City Net, to attain valued outreach and engagement services to community members in
need.
8. ADJOURNMENT
With no further business before the Advisory Committee for Persons with Disabilities, Chair
John Borack adjourned the meeting at 7:03 p.m.

The Advisory Committee for Persons with Disabilities has been tasked with:
• Assisting City departments in implementation of guidelines for accessible facilities;
• Facilitating development of recreational programs useable by persons with disabilities;
• Obtaining information concerning special recreation equipment;
• Facilitating development of barrier-free buildings and facilities within the city;
• Working with various levels of education on the development & implementation of programs to
assure maximum integration for students with disabilities;
• Developing community awareness of employment potentials of persons with disabilities.
