January 8, 2025
In attendance: Jeff Harris, Vice Chair, Kim Mu-Chow, Member; Cathleen Liberty, Director; Ginny
McNeil, Health Agent; Alicia Sullivan; Public Health Nurse, Kerry MacKay, Regional Inspector, Cassia

CALL TO ORDER: ► Vice Chair Harris called the meeting to order at 5:02 pm.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: ►December 4, 2024.
►MOTION to Approve the December 4, 2024 meeting minutes Mu-Chow. SECOND by Harris. No
discussion. ►ROLL CALL VOTE: Mu-Chow-YES; Harris-YES►VOTE: Yes-2, No-0.
NEW BUSINESS
METACOMET Advisory Board Recommendation and Vote
Cassia updated the board that the Advisory Board for the Public Health Excellence Grant isrequired by
the state and written into IMA. The Advisory Board will consist of three members, one from each town to
meet quarterly to develop annual and long term goals, advise on staff priorities, assure compliance with
all mandatory reporting requirements by the state, review financial status, provide recommendations for
the collaborative, and make sure all the towns are getting their needs met. Each town's BOH has to
appoint an employee. Cassia is recommending Cathleen to be on the board.
MOTION to approve the recommendation of Cathleen Liberty to be on the Advisory Board.
Mu-Chow SECOND by Harris. ROLL CALL Vote: Mu-Chow YES, Harris, YES. VOTE: Yes-2,
No-0.
Community coat drive update
Member, Mu-Chow updated the board on the success of the coat drive. Over 600 gently used coats were
donated to the fire, police departments, Hockamock Y and Methodist Church and on December 14th the
coats were distributed to 325 people in need. The rest went to the Sacred Heart in Milford where a second
coat drive collected over 1000 gently used coats.
427 Oakland Parkway condemnation discussion
Director Liberty noted the owners of the dwelling have a contractor that began work so that the board
does not need to pursue razing the dwelling.
Local upgrade request for 145 Pleasant Street.
Director Liberty noted that the local upgrade request is for a reduction in the separation distance between
high groundwater elevation and the bottom of the Soil Absorption System. (3.5ft -4 feet which is
required).
MOTION to approve the local upgrade. Mu-Chow SECOND by Harris. ROLL CALL Vote:
Mu-Chow YES, Harris, YES. VOTE: Yes-2, No-0.
Metacomet Shared Service Grant Inspector Update
MacKay, the regional inspector, gave her monthly update. There was much discussion regarding food
borne illnesses and how they are reported and the process of inspections.
Metacomet Public Health Nurse Update
The public health nurse gave her monthly update.
