‭BOH MEETING MINUTES‬ ‭February 5, 2025‬ ‭In attendance: Jeff Harris, Vice Chair, Kim Mu-Chow, Member; Cathleen Liberty, Director; Ginny‬ ‭McNeil, Health Agent; Alicia Sullivan; Public Health Nurse, Kerry MacKay, Regional Inspector, Guests:‬ ‭Steve Sherlock (via Google Meet)‬ ‭CALL TO ORDER: ► Vice Chair Harris called the meeting to order at 5:00 pm.‬ ‭APPROVAL OF MINUTES: ►January 8, 2025.‬ ‭►MOTION to Approve the January 8, 2025 meeting minutes Mu-Chow. SECOND by Harris. No‬ ‭discussion. ►ROLL CALL VOTE: Mu-Chow-YES; Harris-YES►VOTE: Yes-2, No-0.‬ ‭NEW BUSINESS‬ ‭Appointment of MHOA as tobacco control agent‬ ‭Director Liberty noted that the town is not in a tobacco coalition and therefore does not have compliance‬ ‭checks conducted. The Massachusetts Health Office Association (MHOA) is willing to be the tobacco‬ ‭control agent. The board is required to vote the MHOA as the tobacco control agent.‬‭Motion to approve‬ ‭MHOA as the town’s tobacco control agent. Mu-Chow SECOND by Harris. ROLL CALL Vote:‬ ‭Mu-Chow YES, Harris, YES. VOTE: Yes-2, No-0.‬ ‭METACOMET Advisory Board alternate member‬ ‭Director Liberty noted that there needs to be alternate member voted in for the Advisory Board for the‬ ‭Public Health Excellence Grant is‬‭required by the‬‭state and written into IMA. Director Liberty is‬ ‭recommending Kerry MacKay to be the alternate member on the advisory board since she is more‬ ‭involved with the grant.‬ ‭MOTION to approve the recommendation of Kerry MacKay to be an alternate member on the‬ ‭Advisory Board. Mu-Chow SECOND by Harris. ROLL CALL Vote: Mu-Chow YES, Harris, YES.‬ ‭VOTE: Yes-2, No-0.‬ ‭Healthy Brains Program‬ ‭Director Liberty noted that the health department will be implementing a Healthy Brain Program for 2025‬ ‭starting with a podcast with a Care Manager and Dementia Educator. Alisha, the public health nurse noted‬ ‭that she will be doing community education on nutrition, hypertension, exercise, etc. that leads to a‬ ‭healthy brain. She also noted that we will create a website of resources for this program as well and we‬ ‭will be partnering with the library as well. Member Mu-Chow noted that the Safe Coalition was getting‬ ‭the Mega Brain and the Dementia experience to incorporate in the program. Stephen Sherlock notes that‬ ‭he would send me information pertaining to the Brain Gym.‬ ‭Metacomet Shared Service Grant Inspector Update‬ ‭MacKay, the regional inspector, gave her monthly update.‬ ‭Metacomet Public Health Nurse Update‬ ‭The public health nurse gave her monthly update.There was much discussion about the Avian Flu.‬ ‭CITIZENS COMMENTARY‬ ‭Stephen Sherlock noted that the Google Meet on the agenda did not work. Director Liberty noted that she‬ ‭would look into that issue.‬ ‭ADJOURNMENT‬ ‭►MOTION to adjourn at 5:25 by Mu-Chow.
