Library Board

April 15, 2013 Board Member Larry Jirsak called the meeting to order at 4:05 p.m. in the library board room with the following members present: Larry Jirsak, Connie Schmeichel, and Jan Therien. Also present was Director Janet Davenport and Jessica Janssen, Executive Director, Fremont Area Community Foundation. Board Members absent Cindy Slykhuis and Jenice Wolfe. The meeting was preceded by publicized notice in the Fremont Tribune and Radio KHUB and the agenda displayed in the municipal building, the Keene Memorial Library, online at www.fremontne.gov/library and distributed and emailed to the Library Board members on April 9, 2013 and is open to the public. A copy of the open meeting law is posted continually for public inspection and is located near the entrance to the Board Room. Board Member Schmeichel moved to approve the minutes of the regular meetings on December 17, 2012, January 21 and March 18, 2013. (No February meeting due to lack of quorum) Board Member Therien seconded the motion. Carried. New Business – Fremont Area Community Foundation Non-Profit Resources Intensive Program: Jessica Janssen, Executive Director - Ms. Janssen Provided an over view of the FACF”s Non- Profit Intensive Program. She indicated the 2013 program will include the Fremont Art Association, Jefferson House, Care Corporation, Joseph’s Coat from Blair and Keene Memorial Library. Mary Lee Fitzsimons of UNO will be the facilitator. Library Director Davenport will participate in monthly sessions and Library Board leadership and Friends of the Library leadership will be asked to participate in quarterly sessions. The first step is an assessment tool Director Davenport will prepare helping the facilitator know where we are and our needs that the project may help us address. After Board discussion Board Member Therien moved and Board Member Schmeichel seconded the library’s participation in this project. The motion passed. 6-Month Statistics Review: Statistics for the 6 month period of September 1, 2012 – March 31, 2013 were distributed and discussed. Unfinished Business – Strategic Planning: Review and Discussion of 2008-2010 Keene Memorial Library Strategic Plan. Review and Discussion was postponed until the next meeting due to lack of time available. Reports - Director’s Report: The Director’s Report was skipped due to lack of time.
