A copy of the Open Meeting Law is posted for review by the public.  MINUTES OF PARKS & RECREATION BOARD MEETING Tuesday, November 6, 2018 7:00 pm – Meeting Room of City Auditorium - 925 N Broad ST PRESENT: Dian Christensen Hillis, Wendy Eairleywine, Connie Giese, Kim Koski, Dan Moran, Nate Schwanke. 1. Call to Order – Meeting convened at 7:00pm. The agenda displayed at City Hall, 400 E Military and was distributed to the Mayor, City Council and the Park Board, on November 2, 2018 and is open to the public. The open meeting law is posted continually for public inspection. 2. Roll Call – 4 present. Bechtel and Prince absent. 3. Reading of the Park & Recreation Board Minutes – Motion was made by Eairleywine, seconded by Giese to dispense with the reading of the minutes and approve as sent. Motion carried. 4. Request for fee waiver for Christensen Field (kitchen, meeting room, main arena and stage) on April 26 – 28, 2019 for post prom party for Bergan and Fremont High Schools. Motion was made by Giese, seconded by Eairleywine to approve the request and forward it on to the City Council for final approval. Motion carried. 5. Johnson Park Playground Update – Don Cunningham provided renderings of the playground equipment the Kiwanis Club is looking at for Johnson Park. The Kiwanis Board will be deciding on a vendor at next meeting. He reported they are putting plans together for the fundraising phase of the project. He will continue to report to the board as the project progresses. 6. Resignation of Robert Brown from Park Board – Motion was made by Giese, seconded by Moran to accept the resignation of Robert Brown from the Park Board. Motion carried. 7. January, 2019 Meeting Date – Park Board meets the first Tuesday of each month. The first Tuesday in January falls on January 1 which is a City Holiday. After discussing options, the Board will meet on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 7:15pm. Koski will get this change to the City Clerk for proper publication of the meeting notice. 8. Recreation Report – Schwanke * Activities during holiday break are being planned. * Prep work is beginning for summer activity brochure. * Will be scheduling interviews over holiday break for summer positions. * Inventorying supplies/equipment and compiling list of needs. 9. Director’s Report – Koski * Crews are finishing up re-covering the outside of the stall barns at Christensen Field. * It’s been a department effort to get the Downtown Christmas wreaths up. 302 wreaths were unpacked; 302 bows were unpacked; 302 brackets were assembled; 302 bows were attached to 302 wreaths; old brackets  were taken off poles and 302 new brackets were installed on 151 poles; 2 wreaths were bracketed back to back; wreaths were attached to 151 poles; with the assistance of the Department of Utilities, GFCI’s were reset and the wreaths lit up! * Floor project will get underway soon at the senior center. Bid was awarded to Fauss Construction. The original floor tile will be removed and area will be cleaned and will have a sealed concrete finish. Operations of the senior center will be moved to the Christensen Field side. Work will be completed by December 31. Additional work will include ADA compliant restrooms, raised toilets, motion sensors for soap, faucets and doors; canopy over front door with concrete work; ADA drinking fountain. 10. Other Business – None. 11. Next Meeting – Thursday, January 3 at 7:15pm in the meeting room of the City Auditorium. 12. Adjournment – motion was made by Giese, seconded by Eairleywine to adjourn. Motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 7:44 pm.
