OLD BUSINESS Boy Scout Headstone Straightening Project: Jeff called John Ramsey and he said yes, however, no action has been taken. This troop also helps with the Rotary fly in. Keno grant is due. Kim Koski reported this was already done by Kevin Bloemker. NEW BUSINESS Kim Beam reported that Tammy McKeighan from the Fremont Tribune called her and wants to do a story on Ridge Cemetery. Kim asked that Cherrie Beam Callaway give the history side of the story and permission that our next fund raising would be for a directory. This story will take place once Cherrie is back from vacation. Kim Beam also reported on research that she has done regarding cemetery directories. She received quotes from Windy Prairie Systems, Inc. Costs for kiosks range from upper $20’s to $70’s. There are also annual maintenance fees, updating fees, etc. A quote for just an online directory was not received because it would vary with the size of the database. Kim also investigated Apps that are available. The following Apps are available although none would list Ridge Cemetery unless we were a part of it. Apps include Tomb finder, Funeral info, Find A Grave, Ancestry, Web Cemeteries. Further discussion on whether we could upload Jeff’s Excel Spreadsheet and create our own directory on the City website was discussed. Kim K. and Jeff will look into this. Jeff will also discuss pricing when he attends the Cemetery Convention in October. We will need to include the viability of a kiosk in the long-term planning as it would be best situated at the new office when project begins. JEFF HIVELY REPORT Jeff Hively reported there were 15 funerals, 10 full and 5 ashes. Grave sales were 11 – 10’ graves, 4 – 8’ graves and 1 single columbarium. Jeff is working with Carol Verbeek from the American Legion Auxiliary in Scribner to place markers for WW1 Veteran Mothers. There are 20 of them. Gold Star 100th Anniversary permanent markers. These will be placed in the cemetery on Sunday, October 7, 2018. Jeff will locate, mark with an orange flag and give maps. Next, they will do Gold Star Mothers – WWII and Gold Star Mothers Veteran. Grass seed was planted where they trenched, and it is coming in nicely. Will do fall fertilizer on Friday and fall herbicide in October. Planning to edge and paint block #’s before snow arrives. Drainage problem in the back of the cemetery. Jeff is going to put in drain pipes to get rid of the water. KIM KOSKI REPORT Finishing budget. Jeff received all his equipment and enough money left over to replace a couple of weed eaters. Headstone straightening is all done and received report and approved. Headstone damage on Newill has been replaced and Dillow repairs are done now. Sprinkler/Irrigation system is all done. Cemetery office is in the 2019 budget. Kim will include kiosk in the budgets.
