RIDGE CEMETERY ASSOCIATION, INC. BOARD MEETING WEDNESDAY, JUNE 10, 2020 – 12:00 P.M. A meeting of the Ridge Cemetery Association, Inc. Board was held on June 10, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. in the 2nd floor conference room at 400 East Military Avenue, Fremont, Nebraska. The meeting was preceded by publicized notice in the Fremont Tribune and the agenda displayed in the Municipal Building. The meeting was open to the public. A continually current copy of the agenda was available for public inspection at the office of the City Administrator, 400 East Military Avenue. The agenda was distributed to the Ridge Cemetery Association, Inc. Board on June 4, 2020 and posted on the City’s website. A copy of the open meeting law is posted continually for public inspection. ROLL CALL Roll call showed Board Members Beam, Marsh, Manhart and Thietje present; Lamme, McGillick absent; 4 present, 2 absent. Others in attendance included Connie Giese, Park Board Representative, Kim Koski, Director of Parks & Recreation, Jeff Hively, Ridge Cemetery Sexton. SECRETARY REPORT Moved by Member Thietje and seconded by Member Beam to dispense with reading of the Secretary Report and approve as sent. Ayes: Thietje, Beam, Marsh and Manhart. Motion carried 4-0. TREASURER’S REPORT – Koski presented Treasurer’s Report that was submitted by Member McGillick. Motion was made by Member Marsh and seconded by Member Thietje to approve and file the Treasurer’s Report. Ayes: Beam, Marsh, Manhart and Thietje. Motion carried 4-0. OLD BUSINESS a. KENO Application – Koski reported the KENO request that was submitted for the April, 2020 round of KENO request for stone straightening was denied. Only one project was funded by the KENO Committee during the April, 2020 round of requests. b. Stone/Monument Straightening and Leveling Project 2020 – Koski reported the Ridge Cemetery Association was awarded a KENO grant in the amount of $2,500 during the December, 2019 round of requests. The Ridge Cemetery Association will match this grant in the amount of $2,500 as approved in a prior meeting. Bid sheets are being prepared and work must be completed by August 31, 2020 and final report must be submitted to the KENO Committee by September 30, 2020. NEW BUSINESS a. The Ridge Cemetery Board welcomed Connie Giese as the new Park Board representative. Connie is very excited to serve on this board! b. Big Give Recap – Member Beam reported the Ridge Cemetery Association raised $885. She was pleased with this amount as this was the first time hosting this event. It was a learning experience and next year will be bigger and better! The Ridge Cemetery Association was  awarded a $500 Golden Ticket prize by the Fremont Area Community Foundation on top of individual donations. CEMETERY SEXTON UPDATE (NO BOARD ACTION IS REQUESTED) a. Hively gave update on number of niche sales, full burials and cremations since the last meeting. 20 funerals (16 full burials, 4 cremations); 20 grave sales; 11 headstone installations creating $525 in fees for the perpetual upkeep fund; b. Magnum Builders installed the new roof for the maintenance shop. c. Storm Damage – A large limb fell during storm and damaged an older headstone. Jeff is working with park shop to repair and secure the stone. DIRECTOR OF PARKS & RECREATION UPDATE (NO BOARD ACTION IS REQUESTED) a. Koski stated in person meeting will resume in September. Zoom option is still available but members choosing to zoom will not be counted towards the quorum and won’t be allowed to cast any votes. b. Remaining meetings for 2020: Wednesday, September 9; Wednesday, December 9. ADJOURNMENT Moved by Member Thietje and seconded by Member Marsh to adjourn at 12:42 p.m. Ayes: Thietje, Manhart, Beam and Marsh. Motion carried 4-0.
