The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 7 - Caprioglio, Quintero, Baines III, Brand, Brandau, Olivier and Soria City of Fresno ***Subject to Mayoral Veto Page 2 City Council Meeting Minutes - Final May 19, 2016 COUNCILMEMBER REPORTS AND COMMENTS Vice President Quintero reported the second annual Senior Spring Fling took place at the Mosqueda Community Center. The event was an information and resource fair in which more than forty resource tables were available for the 450 to 500 seniors in attendance. He noted that everyone had a great time and that the event included live music, raffle prizes and food. He thanked the sponsors for their hard work including the Parks, After School, Recreation and Community Service ("PARCS") Department and the Fresno Madera Area Agency on Aging. He also thanked Brenda Rapada for helping organize the event. Councilmember Brandau reported his attendance at the Bicycle and Pedestrian Action Plan event hosted by the Public Works Department at the Fair Grounds. He said it was a well attended event and announced there would be a second event at Fresno City College later in the evening. Councilmember Brandau announced that it was the 100th anniversary of the Greek genocide and asked that the meeting be adjourned in the memory of the Greek genocide. Councilmember Soria asked that Council adjourn in the memory of Maria Gutiérrez. She remembered Ms. Gutiérrez as an advocate for the Central Valley that did a lot of work with the Latino community and also advocated on water issues. She was originally from Los Angeles and worked for Univision approximately 28 years. She will be missed. Councilmember Soria reported that she held her Coffee in the Tower event at Cup of Joy. Approximately 25 residents attend the event and a number of neighborhood issues were discussed. She plans on discussing some of the issues with the City Manager. Her constituents provided their thoughts on what should be budget priorities for the city. Councilmember Soria thanked the Public Works Department and Director Mozier for help getting a bike land put in down Ashlan. 1. Vice President Quintero directed staff to provide mailers to District 5 neighborhoods to announce nearby out reach events for the Parks Master Plan. Vice President Quintero also directed staff to e-mail him a schedule or timeline regarding the Parks Master Plan process.
