MEETING OF CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION GEORGE A. PUREFOY MUNICIPAL CENTER MCCALLUM ROOM, 4TH FLOOR 6101 FRISCO SQUARE BLVD. FRISCO, TEXAS 75034 4:30 PM MONDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2020 MINUTES CALL TO ORDER Mayor Jeff Cheney called the meeting to order at 4:33 p.m. with a full quorum present. Mayor Jeff Cheney Present Mayor Pro-Tem Will Sowell Present Deputy Mayor Pro-Tem Shona Huffman Present Council Member John Keating Present Council Member Bill Woodard Present Council Member Tim Nelson Present Council Member Brian Livingston Present Representing Staff: Henry Hill, Deputy City Manager; Nell Lange, Assistant City Manager; Julie Davidson, Deputy City Secretary; Ryan Pittman, City Attorney; Department Directors, and other Staff members. CITIZEN INPUT No one wished to speak. REGULAR AGENDA 1. Discussion regarding the process for the Parks Naming Committee. Page 1 of 3 Assistant Director of Parks Operations Rick Wieland gave a presentation (Exhibit A) regarding the process for naming Frisco Parks and Trails. He began with listing the members of the Parks Naming Committee and continued by describing the process the committee follows when naming parks and trails. Mr. Wieland concluded by presenting the Committee's recommendations for two (2) trails and three (3) neighborhood parks. Mayor Jeff Cheney reminded Council of the importance of capturing the stories behind the names of parks and trails and recommended changing the committee's process to incorporate a deeper look into the history of each area in order to incorporate the story into the naming of the park or trail. After a brief discussion, Council was in agreement to request that the Parks Naming Committee revisit their processes and their recommendations and return with this item in a future Work Session. ADJOURN Council Member John Keating moved to adjourn at 5:19 p.m. Council Member Bill Woodard seconded the motion. Purefoy Municipal Center of the City of Frisco, Texas, a place convenient and readily accessible to the general public at all times, and said Notice was posted on the following date and time: By Friday, October 30, 2020 at 4:30 PM and remained so posted at least 72 hours before meeting was convened.
