Recognition for Gurnoor Narula, Young Entrepreneur Award Winner Mayor Jeff Cheney presented Gurnoor Narula, a senior at Liberty High School, with a proclamation commending him for being named America’s Top Young Entrepreneur through the Young Entrepreneurs Academy’s (YEA!) Saunders Scholars National Competition held annually. The proclamation declared November 2, 2020 as Gurnoor Narula Day. 5. Recognition for Anika Chebrolu, Young Scientist Award Winner Mayor Jeff Cheney presented Anika Chebrolu, a freshman at Independence High School, with a proclamation commending her for being named America’s Top Young Scientist through the national 3M Young Scientist Challenge. The proclamation declared November 2, 2020 as Anika Chebrolu Day. 6. Recognition of Diwali Members of the Indian Affairs Committee of Frisco and the Frisco Inclusion Committee accepted a proclamation from Mayor Jeff Cheney in recognition of Diwali, an Indian Festival of Lights observed on November 14, 2020. Public Works and Engineering report on activities related to roadways, traffic control and transportation, stormwater drainage, water and wastewater, and solid waste collection. Public Works and Engineering Director Paul Knippel presented the Public Works and Engineering report on activities related to roadways, traffic control and transportation, stormwater drainage, water and wastewater, and solid waste collection. Mayor Jeff Cheney then moved to Citizen Input. 8. Parks & Recreation report on activities related to arts, culture, events, park development and operations, natural resources, and recreation services. Parks and Recreation Director Shannon Coates presented the Parks and Recreation report on activities related to arts, culture, events, park development and operations, natural resources, and recreation services. 9. Library Monthly Report for November 2020. Library Director Shelley Holley presented the Library Monthly Report for the month of November 2020. 10. Human Resources Quarterly Report for July 2020 - September 2020. Human Resources Director Lauren Safranek presented the Human Resources Quarterly Report for July 2020 - September 2020. 11. Council Subcommittee reports for current activities of the Legislative Committee, Governance Committee, Budget and Audit Committee, Frisco Square Management District, Dallas Regional Mobility Commission, North Central Texas Emergency Preparedness Committee, Frisco Veterans Advisory Committee, North Texas Commission, and Regional Transportation Council. Council Member Tim Nelson reported on the items discussed at the Governance Committee meeting held earlier in the day. He stated the Committee has completed their revision of the current Council Meeting Monitoring Form and will present their draft to Council at the next Work Session. He also reminded Council that the Committee continues to explore additional opportunities for residents to serve on Frisco’s Boards and Commissions. Council Member John Keating updated Council on the Veterans Advisory Committee’s project to restore the Veteran’s Memorial at Frisco Commons Park.
