MEETING OF THE PUBLIC ART BOARD 6827 MAIN STREET FRISCO, TEXAS 75034 6:30 PM WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4, 2019 MINUTES Citizens are welcome to speak during Citizen’s Input or during an Agenda item. Please fill out a comment card prior to the meeting, indicating when you would like to speak and submit it to staff. You will be given up to 5 minutes. During Citizen’s Input, the Board can listen, but they cannot provide feedback at that time. During the Agenda item, the Board can comment or ask questions regarding your input. CALL TO ORDER Chairman Robert Moroch called the meeting to order at 6:31 p.m. 1. ROLL CALL Chairman Robert Moroch Present Vice Chairman Troy Pelias Present Secretary Amy Hardin Present Board Member Ann Anderson Present Board Member Peter Burns Present Board Member Nazanin Ahmady Arrived at 6:41 p.m. Board Member Carole Gilmore Present Representing Staff: Bret Gaither, Arts, Culture & Special Events Manager; Stephen Ross, Public Art Coordinator; Ani Simmons, Arts & Culture Educator CITIZEN INPUT Brad Sharp of 4230 Artisan Park Frisco, TX 75034, Dennie Franklin and Donna Schmittler of 7037 White Rock Court Frisco, TX 75036, Brian Thomson of 8554 Davis Dr Frisco, TX 75034 and Maria Matos of 10675 Red Cedar Drive, Frisco, TX 75035 introduced themselves, but did not speak on agenda topics. Page 1 of 4 REPORTS 2. Parks and Recreation Monthly Report regarding Parks and Trail Development, Facilities, Special Events, and Youth Development. Public Art Coordinator Stephen Ross discussed the Public Art portions of the report. Arts, Culture & Special Events Manager Bret Gaither described the new dance rehearsal space at the Discovery Center and progress on The Grove at Frisco Commons construction project. 3. Monthly report on status of Public Art projects. Public Art Coordinator Stephen Ross updated the Board on the status of public art projects at Fire Station #3, Monarch View Park, Pearson Acres Park and the Main Street traffic controller signal boxes. CONSENT AGENDA (Items placed on the Consent Agenda are considered routine in nature and are considered non-controversial. The Consent Agenda can be acted upon in one motion. A majority of the Board is required to remove any item for discussion and separate action. Board members may vote nay on any single item without comment and may submit written comments as part of the official record.) 4. Consider and act upon approval of Minutes. A. August 5, 2019 Meeting of the Public Art Board. Board Member Peter Burns moved to approve Minutes from the August 5, 2019 Meeting of the Public Art Board. Board Member Ann Anderson seconded the motion. Passed Vote: 7 - 0 For: Chairman Robert Moroch, Vice Chairman Troy Pelias, Secretary Amy Hardin, Board Member Ann Anderson, Board Member Nazanin Ahmady, Board Member Carole Gilmore, Board Member Peter Burns Against: (None) REGULAR AGENDA 5. Art in the Atrium 19 update. Public Art Coordinator Stephen Ross thanked the Board for completing artwork scoring. Mr. Ross described plans for the next Board meeting to begin at 6 pm on Monday, October 7, followed by the exhibition reception at 6:30 pm. Page 2 of 4 6. Consider and act upon Fire Station #3 public art dedication date. Board Member Ann Anderson moved to approve staff sending the Board a dedication date when available. Board Member Carole Gilmore seconded the motion. Public Art Program strategic planning/recommendations for future agenda topics. Arts, Culture & Special Events Manager Bret Gaither asked the Board for topics to be discussed at future Board meetings. 8. Recognition of outgoing Board member Troy Pelias. Arts, Culture & Special Events Manager Bret Gaither and Public Art Coordinator Stephen Ross thanked Mr. Pelias for his service on the Board. ADJOURN Board Member Peter Burns moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:22 pm. Board Member Ann Anderson seconded the motion.
