MINUTES PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING FRUIT HEIGHTS CITY 910 South Mountain Road July 30, 2024 WELCOME: Chairman Kevin Paulsen called the meeting to order at 7:02 pm. PLEDGE & OPENING CEREMONY: The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Commissioner Heidi Murdock with Chairman Kevin Paulsen offering a word of prayer. PLANNING COMMISSION MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Kevin Paulsen, Commissioners Justin Wright, Clark Moss, and Heidi Murdock. Council Member Gary Anderson was absent CITY STAFF PRESENT: City Manager Darren Frandsen, City Planner Jeff Oyler, Public Director Layne Leonard, and Deputy Recorder Hailee Ballingham. VISITORS: PRESENTATION: Tyler White requested the commission look at the pool ordinance and change the setbacks from the property line to be 3 feet instead of 8 feet. The City Planner did not believe this would qualify as a variant. The commission did not feel comfortable with the 3 feet without doing more research. They directed the staff to get more information to present at the next planning commission meeting (August 27, 2024). The City Planner and the Planning Commission wanted to thank Mr. White for the presentation and for asking the question before building and then not meeting the city’s ordinance. There was a brief discussion on the chicken ordinance. Commissioner Murdock asked when this will be back before the planning commission for discussion. They would like to continue working on this and get a recommendation sent to the city council so there is something on the books. REVIEW AND APPROVAL OF MINUTES FROM PREVIOUS MEETINGS: May 28, 2024, Planning Commission Meeting Minutes Commissioner Heidi Murdock made a motion to approve the May 28, 2024, Minutes. Commissioner Clark Moss seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved by the Planning Commission (1:16:29). PLANNING COMMISSION BUSINESS: 5.1 Look into zoning spots for R-1-6 The commission discussion supports having an R-1-6 zone in the city general plan. There was no action taken. They are going to focus on their district and find a spot they believe would work for an R-1-6. They will then come to the next meeting and discuss their findings with the rest of the commission. They will then present their findings with an open house for the residents to come and ask questions and give their concerns. CALENDAR: August 27, 2024, Planning Commission Meeting ADJOURNMENT: Commissioner Justin Wright made a motion to Adjourn. Commissioner Clark Moss Seconded the motion.
