Advisory Board - Meeting Minutes (May 9th, 2022) I. Call to Order at 7:09 pm Quorum not present. Director Cox recommended an informal meeting to share information with attendees. Board/Staff members present: Jonathan Cox, Anthony DiMarzio, Jason Wunsch, Darian Walker, and Jerry O’Connell. II. Pledge III. Public Comment Ron Nowcyk, Jo Ann Emery, and Sherrill Stanley were in attendance. Jo Ann Emery mentioned that the PRCRD does not have a method to evaluate recreation programming. Asst Director DiMarzio acknowledged her concern and said the PRCRD was working to have a new process in place prior to June 30th, 2022. No further comments. IV. Hilltop Needmore Town Park & Preserve Master Plan – Public Input / Survey (DiMarzio) CLH Design will be conducting public input sessions at the following times/locations: • May 12th (6:30 pm to 9:00 pm) at the Follow me to Fuquay-Varina (FM2FV) Concert at Centennial Square. • May 21st (10:00 am to 2:00 pm) at Fleming Loop Park. • May 25th (6:00 pm to 8:00 pm) at the Community Center. • June 13th (4:00 pm to 6:30 pm) at Hilltop Needmore Town Park and Preserve. Additionally, there will be a survey on the “Let’s Talk Fuquay-Varina” Community Engagement Portal on the Town’s webpage. Department need and public input will determine the components that will be developed at the park. V. Project Updates a. Hilltop Needmore Town Park & Preserve (HNTPP) i. Community Center North (Cox) Façade Concept “A” was adopted by the Town Board at the last public meeting. The Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) is evaluating the total cost of the project. Once completed, the design, development, and cost will be presented to the Town Board. ii. Former Clubhouse Redesign / Construction (Cox) Early voting had to be moved to Council Gym due to ongoing construction. Construction should be completed by May 13th. Upgrades include compliance with ADA Standards for Accessible Design, a catering kitchen, and external restrooms. Anticipate a ribbon cutting ceremony on May 16th at 10:00 am. The first recreation program is scheduled for May 19th (Active Adult Pizza Social). Beginning on July 1st, the public will be able to rent the facility for private use. b. Hidden Valley Greenway Design (Cox) Consultants are working on construction documents. c. Alston Ridge Greenway Design (Cox) Consultants are working on construction documents. Staff anticipates scoring high for potential funding from the North Carolina Capital Area  Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) because the greenway will connect communities to destinations. d. Action Park Dugouts (Cox) Passed final inspection. Ready for use. e. Action Park Tennis Courts (Cox) Project escalated to current fiscal year. The Town is soliciting estimates for replacement and resurfacing. VI. PRCR Staffing Updates (Cox) Ulysses Martinez joins the Parks Division as a Parks Maintenance Worker. VII. Upcoming Events a. FM2FV – May 12, 2022 – Liquid Pleasure b. Independence Day Celebration – July 1, 2022, 6PM (Cox) Independence Day Celebration moved to the 1st due to scheduling challenges with the fireworks production crew. VIII. Next Meeting a. Monday, June 13, 2022, 7:00pm (Cox) Proposed an informal meeting at HNTPP in conjunction with the public input session for the HNTPP Master Plan. Advisory Board members are encouraged to meet and interact with the public. Also, suggested postponing July’s meeting to August, to avoid conflicts with the Town Board meeting, school track out, and summer vacation season. IX. Staff Comments (Cox) The FY 23 Budget was submitted to the Town Board. There were significant increases to the PRCRD’s budget to accommodate three new staff positions, and a rapidly increasing athletics program participation rate. X. Board Comments (Wunsch) Very excited about the future of the PRCRD and looking forward to hearing from the public regarding the HNTPP Master Plan. XI. Adjournment Meeting adjourned – 7:38 pm.
