CALL TO ORDER BY MAYOR TOM KNEELAND - Invocation, Pledge of Allegiance, Roll Call Gahanna City Council met in Regular Session on Monday, January 2, 2017 in Council Chambers of City Hall, 200 South Hamilton Road, Gahanna, Ohio. The Mayor, Tom Kneeland, called the meeting to order at 7:09 p.m., and delivered an Invocation followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Agenda for this meeting was published on December 30, 2016. *Michael Schnetzer arrived at 7:14 p.m. Present 7 - Karen J. Angelou, Jamie Leeseberg, Stephen A. Renner, Michael Schnetzer, Brian D. Larick, Brian Metzbower, and Nancy R. McGregor B. ELECTION OF PRESIDENT A nomination was made by Angelou, seconded by Leeseberg, to appoint Brian Larick as President of Council. The nomination carried by the following vote: Yes: 6- Angelou, Leeseberg, Renner, Larick, Metzbower and McGregor Absent: 1- Schnetzer Mayor Kneeland turned the meeting over to President Larick. C. ELECTION OF VICE PRESIDENT A nomination was made by Angelou, seconded by Metzbower, to appoint Jamie Leeseberg as Vice President of Council. CONSENT AGENDA: Minutes - To Approve: 2017-0009 Council Meeting Minutes for Monday, December 19, 2016. These Minutes were Approved and Filed on the Consent Agenda. Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) Angelou said the first meeting will be held on January 12. Gahanna-Jefferson Board of Education No report. Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) Leeseberg said Board meeting will be this Thursday. T. OFFICIAL REPORTS: Mayor Mayor said congratulations to Deputy Chief Spence; he's a great candidate and a great person. City Attorney Ewald said there are many accomplishments on the City Report; congratulations to Deputy Chief Spence. U. COUNCIL COMMENT Metzbower said congratulations to Deputy Chief on his promotion, to Larick for new role as Council President and Leeseberg for Vice President. City of Gahanna Page 5 City Council Meeting Minutes January 2, 2017 Angelou said congratulations to Spence and thanked him for his service to the City; will be a special year; wishes Police Department all the best; lost former Council Member this past week; Nick Hogan was one of a kind; often times were on opposite sides of issues, but Nick always stood by his principles; became a good friend despite differences; deepest condolences to his family; his funeral will be at St. Matthew's this week; Happy New Year. Renner wished everyone a Happy New Year’s; didn't get the pleasure to serve with Hogan, but knew him and will be paying respects. McGregor said congratulations to Spence; worked with Hogan and got along well, sorry to hear of his passing. Schnetzer wished everyone a Happy New Year; looking forward to year ahead; congratulations to Spence. Leeseberg said he mirrors previous comments and looking forward to the New Year. Larick congratulated Chief Murphy on having a full Police Department, and congratulated Spence; said thank you to the entire Police Department. V.
