A. CALL TO ORDER - Invocation, Pledge of Allegiance, Roll Call
Gahanna City Council met in Regular Session on Monday, December 4,
2017, in Council Chambers of City Hall, 200 South Hamilton Road,
Gahanna, Ohio. President of Council, Brian D. Larick, called the
meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Vice President of Council, Jamie
Leeseberg, delivered an Invocation followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Agenda for this meeting was published on December 1, 2017.
Present 7 - Karen J. Angelou, Jamie Leeseberg, Stephen A. Renner, Michael
Schnetzer, Brian D. Larick, Brian Metzbower, and Nancy R. McGregor
B. ADDITIONS OR CORRECTIONS TO THE AGENDA.
Leeseberg requested to move Item O., Executive Session after Hearing
of Visitors.
A motion was made by Leeseberg, seconded by Renner, that the Motion to
amend the agenda be approved. The motion carried by the following vote:
Yes: 7- Angelou, Leeseberg, Renner, Schnetzer, Larick, Metzbower and McGregor
C. HEARING OF VISITORS.
Karen Crognale, 2891 Langly Court, Blacklick; speaking on behalf of
Resolution to save the Crew; son is player on the team; Gahanna is the
place they started playing soccer when he was 4 years old; very
important to the development of our children; strong supporter of sports
and parks and recreation; believe the Columbus Crew is a true
community asset; thanks Council for their support.
Chris Hudson, 143 Midhurst; also here on behalf of Resolution to save

the Crew; hopes Council supports this; tough loss this week for the team;
now is the time that these kinds of symbolic and important motions help
unite the City and stack the pieces in the battle for public perception that
is being portrayed incorrectly.
Brenda Hoffman, 279 Highmeadow Drive; here to talk about sidewalks;
have an issue with hers; Shane Ewald has been involved; appreciates
him; is a City-wide issue; has to do with trees; have learned a lot from
interacting with other people; trees are part of beautification; problem is,
the roots are producing; USDA says to cut them; still fighting sprouts from
trees they have cut down to stumps; still have neighbors with the trees;
others are saying they have that too; have a genetic disorder; have a
wheel chair and will be in it; knees need replaced; eyes have been
operated on 3x; will be in a wheel chair as will other people; your
neighbor’s sidewalk has an impact; imperative how we in the community
treat each other regarding sidewalks and these trees; putting burden on
each other; we are paying tax dollars to Franklin County; they are
removing these trees from the Scioto Metro Park; we are protecting
them; no tree anywhere in the world more important than a person’s
health; fell in front of her house and it hurts a lot; said things on Facebook
and tried to get people out to Council; got many messages and
understands things differently; do not want to spend more money on this
issue and give up another vacation; let's do something for the people; do
not get permits to take out a tree; if the people want their curb tree, they
can have it; why pay to take down an invasive species; showed images
of trees that were under her sidewalk; all of us need this; Angelou asked
the tree; Hoffman said Cleveland Select; cannot buy after the first of the
year; is a Bradford pear; Rob Wendling is a great arborist and always
doing his job.

investigation of charges or complaints against a public employee, official,
licensee, or regulated individual, unless the public employee, official,
licensee, or regulated individual requests a public hearing. The motion carried
by the following vote:

Angelou said Executive Committee meets Thursday.

Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) - Renner
Renner said CVB was able to generate marketing and promotion for
Creekside and Gahanna with the Holiday Lights; Visit Gahanna was able
to obtain promotional coverage for many businesses; candle light walk
was canceled due to weather and is planned to be rescheduled; past
weekend, Visit Gahanna welcomed more than 600 runners for annual
Santa Race 5K; number of participants was up 50% and was a record
high; businesses that were open generated revenue.

Angelou said would like to thank colleagues who have been so kind
during this time; does not feel like herself; cannot tell you how many times
she has gotten rides to MORPC and home; Mr. Metzbower, Leeseberg,
and Mrs. McGregor have helped; hard getting through these past 13
weeks; have made it easier; thank you.
