called “Pies in the Park.” Held in beautiful Friendship Park on a
fall afternoon, the event will feature Gahanna’s best pizzas, along
with beverages, free family activities, music and more. Over the
past two weeks, Visit Gahanna has been busy developing
marketing materials (logo, posters, flyers, postcards and more),
securing sponsors, organizing logistics and securing vendors.
More details on the event will soon be available on
visitgahanna.com. To get involved (whether as a sponsor, vendor
or volunteer), contact Visit Gahanna at info@visitgahanna.com.
· In an effort to decrease costs while maximizing marketing
exposure for Gahanna, Visit Gahanna has increased its

Columbus to take advantage of opportunities to promote
businesses, attractions and events in the city - including
expanding our presence in the group tour market and leveraging
cross-promotional opportunities for the Herbal Cocktail Trail and
more.
· In relation to its expanded partnership with Experience Columbus,
Team Visit Gahanna has been developing new group itineraries
and designing and creating marketing profile sheets to promote to
tour operators. These will be used during an upcoming travel show
with operators that is scheduled for next week in Indiana. The
team is already working on bookings for the 2019 season. This
Saturday, September 8, Visit Gahanna will welcome a group tour
from Wisconsin, who will be participating in a customized

gardens.

· In an effort to further grow its position in the statewide tourism
industry, Visit Gahanna staff has been working with the Ohio Travel
Association in planning the upcoming 2018 Ohio Conference on Travel,

M. OFFICIAL REPORTS:
Mayor
First Ministerial Association meeting from May; walked through Issue 29;
offer from one of the pastors to have coffee and inform voters; there are 6
meetings that are on the same night; might need help; this is opening
weekend for soccer; Mayor asked if anyone can spend an hour or two;
make sure on the schedule; Sunday will be same people; FAQ is done;
it's a clear and concise message; City website is supposed to launch
tonight; working through issues; he has master calendar; will send out for
distribution; if you'd like to participate in any meetings let him know.
City Attorney
No report.
N. COUNCIL COMMENT
Angelou stated CIC presentation was really interesting; noted social
media is very negative; some people have no clue about the process on
branding and the website; a lot of dialogue is not correct; potentially at
some point, say something back about the true inaccurate information;
get the facts out there; we are not buying Creekside; she doesn't know
why people are wishing for bad things for the City; it doesn't make sense
to her; she is a person who certainly has good ethics and religion; she
would like to come up with something with the group.
McGregor said Touch A Truck is a great event; fun for the kids.
Metzbower said he echoes Angelou's thoughts about social media.
Renner said Angelou's comments are spot on; he said it's going on in the
whole Country; he was at presentation on Friday and the speaker said
that it's the elected official’s duty to make things better; he totally believes
that; it's the resident's duty to make things better; doesn't understand why
anyone would get on social media and tear the City apart; deliver fake
news; he would do anything to help with this matter to help alleviate the
negativity; on a cheery note; family rode bikes from Morse Rd all the way
to Price Rd to Hamilton Road and Rocky Fork to get a donut; someday
he'd love the trails to be completely united; to have trails that we have is
City of Gahanna Page 5

remarkable; fantastic family time; then played basketball.
Schnetzer said his little guy loved Touch A Truck; he spent a solid three
hours admiring the truck; nice to have low cost entertainment for him;
piggy backing on what the Mayor and Angelou said while the FAQ is
great and the video is great, it's going to be impossible to answer every
single question; that's why face to face interaction with the City is very
beneficial to get the residents informed; everyone think about
organizations, whether it's Scouts, Soccer Assoc., etc. any network that
you can get tapped into to get voters the facts; try to get as many groups
together as possible.
Leeseberg said the presentation on Friday was very interesting;
somebody asked him the definition of insanity; he agreed with most of
the presentation; heard a lot of suggestions; found it interesting; we try to
do what we think is right; he'd like to see some of the ideas get
implemented; he agrees with Angelou on social media; he's felt that way
for a long time; frustrating to say the least; he tells people to come to him
instead getting information off social media.
Larick said he enjoyed Touch A Truck; he went by himself and had fun;
great event; Taste of Gahanna was great event as well; like to see more
people participate; especially when it's due to weather; like to get to a
place where that doesn't affect people attending City events.
