CALL TO ORDER - Invocation, Pledge of Allegiance, Roll Call Gahanna City Council met in Regular Session on Monday, March 4, 2019, in Council Chambers of City Hall, 200 South Hamilton Road, Gahanna, Ohio. President of Council, Brian Metzbower, called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m. Vice President of Council, Stephen Renner, delivered an Invocation followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. McGregor Absent 1 - Michael Schnetzer B. ADDITIONS OR CORRECTIONS TO THE AGENDA: None. C. HEARING OF VISITORS. Senator Tina Maharath, 1 Capitol Square, Columbus; wanted to introduce myself; newly elected Senator for the 3rd District, which covers part of Gahanna; member of the Local Government, Public Service & Veterans Affairs Committee; top priority for Gahanna will be to fight back for government funding back to local funding and to protect Home Rule; other priorities will be for the opioid epidemic, healthcare as a whole; plan on opening up an Asian-American Commission for more and equal opportunities for Asian-Americans; am I child of immigrants from Laos; champion and advocate for troubled youth because parents died in a car accident when I was 14, so I am a child of trauma; have endured that fight; here to fight for children and women; my district is my home; native of Whitehall. A motion was made by Larick, seconded by Leeseberg, that the Ordinance be Postponed to Date Certain to the City Council, due back on 4/1/2019. Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission (MORPC) - Angelou Angelou stated there's an Executive Committee meets this Thursday, and one week from then is the Commission Meeting. Governmental Liaison - Metzbower Metzbower stated that he had a conversation with President Piccolantonio regarding the request received by the Arts Council. Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) - Schnetzer Schnetzer not present, but Leeseberg informed everyone that the annual lunch would be this Thursday. M. OFFICIAL REPORTS: Mayor Not present. City Attorney No report, but nice to have elected representative here this evening. City of Gahanna Page 5 City Council Meeting Minutes March 4, 2019 N. COUNCIL COMMENT Leeseberg said Butch Sidel passed away last week; he had a retirement on Friday and passed on Saturday. Angelou said there was another untimely death in the community, Glenn Dugger's wife passed away and the funeral was today; thoughts and prayers go out to the family. Larick mentioned that if there's an opportunity to walk this weekend, for Issue 12; will be meeting at 9 a.m. and assistance would be greatly appreciated. Metzbower thanked Senator for taking the time out of her evening to attend tonight; thanked Leeseberg for the statement of Butch Sidel's passing because he was a big part of the community. O. EXECUTIVE SESSION A motion was made by Renner, seconded by Larick, to go into Executive Session under authority of Section 5.40(a) of the Council Rules of Procedure to consider the appointment, employment, dismissal, discipline, promotion, demotion, or compensation of a public employee or official, or the investigation of charges or complaints against a public employee, official, licensee, or regulated individual, unless the public employee, official, licensee, or regulated individual requests a public hearing. Council rose to report to Executive Session in the Council Conference room at 7:16 p.m. Council rose to report from Executive Session at 7:50 p.m. with no action taken.
