McGregor explained the process of what happened with the assessment ordinance; it was a sewer project due to a failing septic system; it is expensive to tap into the city sewer; sometimes in those instances, the city will front the money and the homeowner's property taxes are assessed over a 20-year period; that way the homeowner can pay it incrementally; by passing this as an emergency tonight, the city can begin recouping the money in 2022 rather than 2023; also stated that the high school choir is fantastic; had the opportunity to attend a concert over the weekend and it was a packed house; one of the students is special needs and it was wonderful to see the other students support him. Larick stated that it was wonderful to see students in the audience tonight; City of Gahanna Page 6 City Council Meeting Minutes October 18, 2021 recognized Breast Cancer Awareness Month; has lost a loved one to the terrible disease; is a painful thing to go through.
