CALL MEETING TO ORDER Piccolantonio, Chair called the May 3, 2017 Parks & Recreation Board meeting to order at 7:01pm. B. ROLL CALL Present: 6 - Cynthia Franzmann, Eric Miller, Andy Piccolantonio, Jan Ross, Ken Shepherd and Sarah Mill C. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Motion was made by Shepherd, seconded by Mill, to approve the minutes from the April 5, 2017 Parks Board meeting. Yes: 6- Franzmann, Miller, Piccolantonio, Ross, Shepherd and Mill 2017-0095 PR minutes 4-5-2017 D. ADDITIONS OR CORRECTIONS TO THE AGENDA Old Business - Fee Policy E. HEARING OF VISITORS None F. OLD BUSINESS a. VFW Property Update Barr shared the the closing on the property will be the end of June or early July. In 2013 POD Design Group created a concept plan for the property. A meeting is scheduled with POD to create concept plans City of Gahanna Page 1 Parks & Recreation Board Meeting Minutes May 3, 2017 for both a passive and active recreation park. b. McCutcheon Road Property Update Barr shared that the construction documents should be ready end of second quarter and infrastructure should begin this year. c. BWT Section 4 Update Barr shared that a public input meeting will be scheduled for Big Walnut Trail, Section 4. The Board will be invited once the date is set. d. Fee Policy Barr shared that the fee policy presented at the last meeting needs to be re-written. It will take several months to complete the document. Once completed it will be brought back to the board. G. NEW BUSINESS None H. CORRESPONDENCE AND ACTIONS None I. DIRECTOR'S REPORT Barr shared that the City website is going to be updated. Barr shared that Scott Haden currently works at the departments front desk has accepted the position of Aquatic Supervisor. Interviews continues for the Deputy Director position. Herbal Affair is on May 12th, Herb Day is on May 13th. 2017-0100 Director's Report - April J. COMMITTEE REPORT'S a. Aquatics Advisory Committee None b. Bicycle & Trail Advisory Committee (BTAC) Barr shared that there will be a public input meeting regarding Big City of Gahanna Page 2 Parks & Recreation Board Meeting Minutes May 3, 2017 Walnut Trail section 4. The Board will be notified once the date is set. 2017-0098 BTAC Mins 4-24-2017 c. Gahanna Active Senior Advisory Committee The senior membership continues to rise. The minutes of the April meeting are attached. The next Advisory meeting is June 21, 2017 at 2:30pm. 2017-0096 Gahanna ASAC minutes 4-19-17 d. Natural Resources Advisory Committee None e. Veteran's Advisory Committee Shepherd shared the brick dedication is scheduled for May 29th at 1pm. K. POLL MEMBERS FOR COMMENT Mill saw the information regarding the Proclamation that the City is a Pollinator City. Barr explained that being a Pollinator city means that on city owned land we pledge to protect pollinator. The Parks Horticulture crew maintain garden plots at both community gardens that have pollinator plants. The City has several bee colonies. a. Gahanna Parks & Recreation Foundation Miller shared the Foundation discussed Hops & Vines, the budget and communications. b. School Board Report Piccolantonio shared that all the School Board meetings can be viewed and/or listened to on line. The preschool program is moving to Clark Hall in order to be in one location. The auditorium at Middle School West has been updated. L. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business of the Board; the meeting adjourned at 8:35pm.
