CALL MEETING TO ORDER Piccolantonio, Chair called the June 7, 2017 Parks & Recreation Board meeting to order at 7:00pm. B. SWEARING IN APPOINTED MEMBER At this time Mayor Kneeland administered the oath of office to Daphne Moehring. C. ROLL CALL Present: 7 - Cynthia Franzmann, Eric Miller, Andy Piccolantonio, Jan Ross, Ken Shepherd, Sarah Mill and Daphne Moering D. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Motion was made by Shepherd, seconded by Ross,to approve the minutes from the May 3, 2017 meeting. The motion carried by the following vote: Yes: 6- Franzmann, Miller, Piccolantonio, Ross, Shepherd and Mill Abstain: 1- Moering 2017-0119 PR minutes 5-3-2017 E. ADDITIONS OR CORRECTIONS TO THE AGENDA Nothing at this time. F. HEARING OF VISITORS None City of Gahanna Page 1 Parks & Recreation Board Meeting Minutes June 7, 2017 G. OLD BUSINESS a. McCutcheon Park update Director Barr shared an updated concept plan for the park. The new plan includes a 45 space parking lot off Hines Road. Phase I, the infrastructure of the park will begin in fall of 2017; it should include the restroom building, parking lot, trails and picnic shelter. Phase II in 2018 will be the playground, and some landscaping. Phase III in 2019 will be the basketball and tennis courts and additional landscaping. Some of the grant money received has to be spent by June 30, 2018 another by December 2018. As part of the 2018 and 2019 Capital Needs Assessment Barr will request approximately $500,000 which will put the cost of the park around $1.7 million dollars. b. VFW Property update Barr shared that negotiations are still underway for the purchase of the VFW property. H. NEW BUSINESS None I. CORRESPONDENCE AND ACTIONS None J. DIRECTOR'S REPORT Barr shared the updates from each division. The sunshade has been installed over the playground at Hunters Ridge Pool. The Director's Report includes the safety training and precautions taken at the aquatic centers. K. COMMITTEE REPORT'S a. Aquatics Advisory Committee City of Gahanna Page 2 Parks & Recreation Board Meeting Minutes June 7, 2017 Nothing at this time c. Gahanna Active Senior Advisory Committee The Senior Spotlight is attached. The Committee's May meeting was cancelled. Barr invited the Board to attend the Senior Potluck Picnic on June 14th at Creekside Plaza. b. Bicycle & Trail Advisory Committee (BTAC) Barr shared that Section 4 of the trail will be built in 2018. The Committee is currently brain storming and looking at East-West connector options. d. Natural Resources Advisory Committee Nothing at this time e. Veteran's Advisory Committee Shepherd shared that approximately 200 people attended the Memorial Day Veterans Ceremony and Dedication. L. POLL MEMBERS FOR COMMENT a. Gahanna Parks & Recreation Foundation Ross and Mill shared that the Hops & Vines event is on September 23 at Creekside. Tickets are currently on sale. The Foundation sponsored $1,000 for a one day canoeing event at the Creekside Blues & Jazz Festival. b. School Board Report Moehring shared that the District Treasurer is leaving. He has been with the District for 13 years. The District is looking for an interim Treasurer. The Five-year Forecast is ready to be filed with the State. There were 561 graduates, and just over $11 million in scholarships were offered with five students receiving full academic scholarships. M.
