CALL MEETING TO ORDER Franzmann, Chair called the July 11, 2018 Parks & Recreation Board meeting to order at 7:00pm at City Hall. B. SWEARING IN OF BOARD MEMBER At this time, Pam Ripley administered the Oath of Office to new Board member Chrissy Kaminski, who is filling an unexpired term ending 12/31/2020. C. ROLL CALL Jan Ross arrived at 7:03p.m. Present: 6 - Eric Miller, Andy Piccolantonio, Jan Ross, Ken Shepherd, Cynthia Franzmann and Chrissy Kaminski Absent: 1 - Daphne Moehring D. APPROVAL OF MINUTES A motion was made by Miller, seconded by Shepherd, to approve the minutes from May 9, 2018 meeting. ADDITIONS OR CORRECTIONS TO THE AGENDA None F. HEARING OF VISITORS City of Gahanna Page 1 Parks & Recreation Board Meeting Minutes July 11, 2018 None G. OLD BUSINESS None H. NEW BUSINESS a. Election of Vice Chair Motion was made by Franzmann, seconded by Piccolantonio, to nominate Jan Ross as Vice Chair. The motion carried by the following vote: Yes: 6- Miller, Piccolantonio, Ross, Shepherd, Franzmann and Chrissy Absent: 1- Moehring b. Ward 1 Park Update Barr updated and shared pictures of Ward 1 Park. The playground install is nearing completion. The safety surface is yet to be installed. Construction fencing and closed sign will remain in place until after the park is completed. The park is still a construction site. Barr shared pictures of the vine cutting/opening ceremony of the Natural Play area at Woodside Green Park. The opening was very well attended and had media coverage. The Nafzger-Miller House 110 Mill Street is on the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of the Interior, the City purchased a plaque to be displayed on the building. I. CORRESPONDENCE AND ACTIONS none J. DIRECTOR'S REPORT Barr shared the Director's report with the Board which included highlights from the Senior Center, Youth & Family programming, Aquatic and the Parks & Facilities Division. 2018-0144 Directors report7-11-18 City of Gahanna Page 2 Parks & Recreation Board Meeting Minutes July 11, 2018 K. COMMITTEE REPORT'S a. Gahanna Active Senior Advisory Committee 2018-0138 ASACmins April 2018 2018-0139 July-Spotlight b. Bicycle & Trail Advisory Committee (BTAC) Ferrell shared that Tricia Kovacs is leading the meetings for BTAC. BTAC is reviewing the Multi-Purpose Trails master plan. The group continues looking for old bikes to refurbish for local kids. 2018-0141 BTAC June 2018 c. Natural Resources Advisory Committee None d. Veteran's Advisory Committee None L. POLL MEMBERS FOR COMMENT a. Gahanna Parks & Recreation Foundation Ross shared the Foundation continues planning the Hops & Vines Event. Miller shared the By-Laws are being updated. Barr shared that the Foundation is purchasing a pair of swans. b. School Board Report Piccolantonio shared that the High School and Royal Manor Elementary have hired principals, Middle School East hired an Assistant Principal. Phase 1 of the levy passage is underway; engaging the community on the next steps for the rebuild of Lincoln Elementary. Phase 2 of the plan is deciding on the future of the High School. M.
