CALL MEETING TO ORDER Franzmann, Chair called the May 9, 2018 Parks & Recreation Board meeting to order at 7:07pm at City Hall. Present: 5 - Eric Miller, Andy Piccolantonio, Jan Ross, Ken Shepherd and Daphne Moehring B. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Motion was made by Ross, seconded by Shepherd; to approve the April 11, 2018 meeting minutes. HEARING OF VISITORS None F. OLD BUSINESS City of Gahanna Page 1 Parks & Recreation Board Meeting Minutes May 9, 2018 a. Ward 1 Park update Barr shared an update on Ward 1 Park; the ground breaking ceremony was on May 2nd. The playground contractor has started on the playground. The remaining construction of the park is still open for bid. Bids close on Friday, May 18, 2018. b. BWT Section 4 update Barr shared that Double Z Construction was awarded the contract for BWT Section 4. Construction is expected to start in June on the west side of the creek. c. GSP - Pool liner update Ferrell shared that the GSP pool liner is currently being installed. The hope is to have the job completed on Saturday, May 12th. Completion is weather dependent. There is time to get the pool filled and balanced for opening day. G. NEW BUSINESS None H. CORRESPONDENCE AND ACTIONS None I. DIRECTOR'S REPORT Barr shared that Herbs In the Alley is Friday night at 5pm at the Herb Center. Herb Day is on Saturday, May 12th, 9am - 4pm at Creekside. Barr shared that the natural playground at Woodside Green Park should be completed in June. The Golf Course drain lines between fairway 1 and 9 have been replaced. Barr shared the highlights from the Department for the last month, report attached. 2018-0107 Directors Report J. COMMITTEE REPORT'S b. Gahanna Active Senior Advisory Committee The April Committee meeting minutes and the May Spotlight are City of Gahanna Page 2 Parks & Recreation Board Meeting Minutes May 9, 2018 attached. 2018-0104 GASAC mins 4-28-2018 2018-0105 May-SeniorSpotlight-042518 a. Bicycle & Trail Advisory Committee (BTAC) Ferrell is the City liaison for BTAC. Tricia Kovacs is the new chair of the committee. The next meeting is June 25, 2018. CT Consultants is working on a citywide multi-use path/trail master plan and connectivity. 2018-0099 BTAC - 4-23-18 Meeting Notes c. Natural Resources Advisory Committee None d. Veteran's Advisory Committee Brick dedication on May 28, at 1pm. K. POLL MEMBERS FOR COMMENT Piccolantonio requested a status on canopy over the playgrounds. Barr shared that part of the new playground at Ward 1 Park will have partial shade, and staff is considering shading some of the other playgrounds. a. Gahanna Parks & Recreation Foundation Ross shared that the Foundation has increased it's marketing and presence at events. b. School Board Report Moehring shared that the Board just completed negotiations; both contracts have been ratified. The contracts are for one year. The High School Musical "In the Heights" is May 10 - 12th. L. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business of the Board, the meeting adjourned at 8:17pm.
