CALL MEETING TO ORDER Chair Jan Ross called to order the Parks & Recreation Board meeting on March 13, 2019 at 7:00pm. B. ROLL CALL Moehring arrived at 7:02pm, Piccolantonio arrived at 7:25pm. Present: 7 - Eric Miller, Andy Piccolantonio, Jan Ross, Ken Shepherd, Cynthia Franzmann, Chrissy Kaminski and Daphne Moehring C. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Motion was made by Miller, seconded by Shepherd, to approve the minutes from the February 13, 2019 meeting. Motion carried with the following vote. Additional Aquatic fees Barr shared the 2019 Aquatic rates for After Hours Private Parties and Aquatic shelter rental rates. The board reviewed the rates presented. Motion was made by Shepherd, seconded by Kaminski, to approve the 2019 Aquatice rental rates as presented. Meeting locations Barr shared that the Board requested to have some meetings outside of City Hall. The board will meet, 6/12/2019, 7pm at Hannah Park shelter, 7/10/2019, 7pm at Friendship Park Gazebo and 9/11/2019, 7pm at Woodside Green Shelter. H. CORRESPONDENCE AND ACTIONS None I. DIRECTOR'S REPORT Barr shared updated registration numbers for summer camp, pool memberships, and golf. The City of Gahanna will be celebrating Arbor Day and hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Westside Park; additional information will be distributed. On April 26th is the ribbon cutting for Section 4 of the Big Walnut Trail. Barr shared that he passed the NRPA Certified Parks and Recreation Executive exam. J. COMMITTEE REPORTS a. Natural Resources Advisory Committee None d. Veteran's Advisory Committee None K. POLL MEMBERS FOR COMMENT a. Gahanna Parks & Recreation Foundation Miller shared that the Foundation has pledged $10,000 for Issue 12. The 2019 budget was passed. The Foundation is funding $18,000 to Parks & Recreation for scholarships, events and programs for 2019. b. School Board Report Moehring shared that Brian Gill shared at the School Board's last meeting the OPRA awards the department received. The schools had a pilot program of Fundations which is a program that builds a foundation for reading and spelling. The pilot program was started in two of the Elementary schools in kindergarten and has been well received and successful. Each year an addition grade level will be added. L.
