CALL MEETING TO ORDER Gahanna Parks & Recreation Board met in regular session on May 11, 2022. Chair Donna Simmons called the meeting to order at 6:57 p.m. Agenda for this meeting was published on May 6, 2022. B. ROLL CALL Present: 7 - Donna Simmons, Eric Miller, Kevin McGinn, Chrissy Kaminski, Jan Ross, Ken Shepherd and Scott Lofton Staff in attendance: Alan Little, Project Manager, and Nichole Butler, Clerk C. APPROVAL OF MINUTES P&R Board Minutes 4.13.22 A motion was made by Shepherd, seconded by McGinn,that the Minutes be Approved.The motion carried by the following vote: Yes: 7- Simmons, Miller, McGinn, Kaminski, Ross, Shepherd and Lofton D. ADDITIONS OR CORRECTIONS TO THE AGENDA E. HEARING OF VISITORS City of Gahanna Page 1 Parks & Recreation Board Meeting Minutes May 11, 2022 Hayden Leffler, is a GLHS student who is attending for service credit for government class. F. OLD BUSINESS Master plan update Little updated that Leon Younger from the PROS Consulting group, visited Gahanna and was taken on a tour of our current facilities, as well as met with all full time Parks and Recreation staff to better understand the needs from the staff perspective. Butler mentioned that the survey at this time has not been finalized and is still supposed to be going out soon. G. NEW BUSINESS Kaminski stated that her neighborhood has been writing City Council to connect the trail from the roundabout to Hannah Park. Little stated that sections of that alignment are outside of Gahanna’s jurisdiction and would require coordination with Franklin County. Kaminski stated that City Councilman, Trenton Weaver, stated that Franklin County needs to do a feasibility study but does not have the plan to complete this trail in their current 10-year capital plan. Little also mentioned that the City is in the process of a feasibility study to connect Headley park to Hannah Park with OHM Advisors. Project updates Little stated that the splash pad is opening on Friday May 20, 2022. Little mentioned that the next project was the mountain bike trail. There was a meeting with American Ramp. He stated the design build plan from American Ramp is still forthcoming. Shepherd asked where the mountain bike trail would be. Little stated it will be at Academy Park. H. CORRESPONDENCE AND ACTIONS I. DIRECTOR'S REPORT Miller asked how the seasonal hiring is going. Butler mentioned that the staffing has improved and currently no programs are in danger of being canceled due to staffing. The interviews will begin for the full time Events Coordinator, and the Program Coordinator II position. They have also begun interviews for the full time Horticulturist. Miller asked how we are doing with pool memberships. Little stated that we are doing well with membership numbers. Gahanna Active Senior Advisory Committee (GASAC)- None iii. Natural Resources Advisory Committee (NRAC)- None K. POLL MEMBERS FOR COMMENT ii. School District Update Lofton stated that they have officially hired a new Superintendent. He also stated that they have also approved the budgets for the Middle schools for construction. They also approved the Blacklick Sports Complex, which is to include 10 tennis courts, 2 Softball fields, 3 Multipurpose fields, 1 of which will be turf. iii. Veteran's Advisory Committee Shepherd stated the Memorial Day Celebration is May 30, 2022 at the VFW. i. Gahanna Parks & Recreation Foundation- None L.
