Roger Matchett Applicant
A regular meeting of the Gallatin Historic District Commission was held on February 13, 2018, in
the Engineering Conference Room of Gallatin City Hall. Chair Thomson called the meeting to
order at 4:30 p.m. A copy of the meeting agenda is attached to these minutes as Exhibit A.
Item 1: Approve Minutes – January 9, 2018 Historic District Commission meeting.
Mr. Wilson motioned to approve the minutes of the January 9, 2018 meeting. Mr. Thomson
seconded the motion and the motion passed 4 ayes, 0 nays.
Item 2 – Certificate of Appropriateness – 223 Hume Avenue – Front Door
Ms. Ogden said the applicant is requesting a Certificate of Appropriateness to replace the wood
front door with a framed, solid fir wood door with glazed windows, on property within the
Woodson Terrace Historic District. The replacement door fits within the Woodson Terrace
Historic District Guidelines. Staff recommends approval of the installation of the solid fir wood
door with glazing and accompanying attachments.
Mr. Richey motioned to approve the Certificate of Appropriateness. Mr. Wilson seconded the
motion and the motion passed 4 ayes, 0 nays.
Item 3 – Outstanding Historic District Problem Properties
Ms. Ogden said the attorney representing the property at 756 East Main Street received a quote
of $3100 to repair the porch roof railing. Since this property is in probate, it is unlikely that the
court will approve this expense. The railing is not original to the home and the attorney would
like to come to the next Historic District Commission meeting to discuss the options.
Chair Thomson said the railing is not original to the home and not necessary.
Ms. Love asked about a safety issue. Ms. Ogden said there is no access to the roof and the
railing is just decorative.
