Gallup BID Board of Directors Meeting
Rico Motors, 3 PM, July 19, 2018
Guests: Rose Eason, Executive Director, Gallup ARTS.
Gallup ARTS Board of Directors has decided to not renew the contract to
manage Arts Crawl events in 2019. The current agreement ends with the
December 2018 event
Call to order.
Motion to accept Minutes of June 19, 2018 Board meeting: A. Biava; 2nd: M.
Ustick; Abstain: J. DeYoung. Approved
Motion to accept Monthly Financial Report: J. DeYoung; 2nd:M. Menapace.

Voting items:
1. Event grant: Gallup Lions club downtown “Hoedown–Parade” event.
Reimbursement request for June 9 event: $1500
2. Event grant: Relay For Life downtown event. Reimbursement request for
June 15 event: $1500
Motion to approve both grants: M. Ustick; 2nd:J. DeYoung. Approved
Reports:
City of Gallup updates: City Manager M. Ustick -
- Police Department update – hiring new police officers
- Skate Park update - Grand Opening will be held on July 28, 10 AM
- Alley Improvement Pilot project, RFP should go out during August
- Planning & Zoning Commission - LDS update meeting. Process will require
several additional meetings to clarify terms
June 20 – Ride Flight Cruise event planning meeting held at Gurley Motors
June 21 – meeting in walkway with B. Welch, Parks & Rec, to determine
locations in parking lot behind Children’s Library and on sidewalk above the
parking lot between walkways for additional performers & vendors at RFC
event
June 22 – meeting with Gordo’s Café to discuss City repaving of Coal at their
location and condition of curbs. M. Ustick and J. DeYoung will look into the
process for informing property owners
June 26 – City Council approved Ride Flight Cruise event permit
June 27 – MRA project planning meeting with consultant Elmo Baca
July 9 – meeting with Spencer Jones in Lindon, UT concerning his vacant
building at 105 W. Coal
July 10 – MRA project planning meeting in Santa Fe with consultant Elmo
Baca
July 10 – meeting in Milan, NM with Kendal Cash to discuss being food
vendor in Gallup at Ride Flight Cruise event; and potential for opening a
business in Gallup
July 11 – meeting of Planning & Zoning Commission to review the final draft
of the Land Development Standards update.
July 12 – meeting at COPE office, 208 W. Coal, with COPE Manager and Red
Rock Security about conditions in the Walkway near Coal Avenue
July 13 – GEDA meeting held at RMCH. J. Kiely offered to meet with E. Baca
when in Gallup on July 17 -18
July 13 – meetings for Coal Avenue Commons Project - to review design
options:
- meeting with architects at City Hall
- meeting with property and business owners
July 17 – 18 – work with consultant E. Baca on the MRA Project
July 18 – meeting with realtor Jason Valentine
Art Crawl update – approximately 1500 people attended another successful
ArtCrawl event
Main Street update – Executive Director has accepted offer, will start work
beginning of August.
