City of Galt Minutes COMMISSION ON AGING 610 CHABOLLA AVENUE, GALT, CA Thursday, July 27, 2023 10:00 AM Chairperson: Andrea Johnson Vice Chair: Libby Robbins Commissioners: Phyllis Johnson, Bob Wilson 1. Call Meeting to Order 10:00am called to order 2. Roll Call: Andrea Johnson (absent), Libby Robbins, Phyllis Johnson, Bob Wilson Advisor: Monica Lopez – Parks & Recreation. 3. Public Comment: Under Government Code Section 54954.3, members of the audience may address the Commission on any item of interest to the public or any agenda item before or during the Commission's consideration of the item. Speakers shall restrict their comments to issues that are within the subject matter authority of the Commission and limit comments to a maximum of five (5) minutes. 4. Acceptance of Minutes: Meeting of May 25, 2023. Approved (P Johnson, B Wilson, all approved). 5. Presentations: 6. New Business: A. Annual Report to City Council (Discussion) The Commission determined that they would do the Annual Report at the 9/5/23 meeting. Council would like at least one member to attend the meeting. B. COA Flier (Co-Chair Robbins) Tabled until the August meeting. Robbins will email the flier. C. Cell Phone for GSRC - $30/month new proposed cost with a free flip phone Wilson made a motion to order a new phone from Verizon, P Johnson seconded the motion. All in favor. Mr. Balliet will be contacted when the new phone is operational, so that he can retrieve his phone from the GSRC. 7. Old Business: A. Commission Joining Chamber of Commerce The COA is a member of the Chamber. Wilson and P Johnson have been attending some of the meetings. B. Budget Review COA would like the dates of the checks that were received from Cal Waste and SMUD. Can the COA donate to the Food Closet? C. Bus Trips for Seniors to Casinos Update Tabled until August. P Johnson is working on D. Bingo Updates 70+ seniors have been attending. Wilson shared that Smashing Prices is offering 12 $10 coupons for its store for $80. Jamba Juice/Baja Fresh will also give a discount. P Johnson made a motion to not exceed $50 to purchase a COA stamp to mark the Bingo cards. Wilson seconded the motion. All in favor. E. SWAG 8.
