Meeting held in City Council Chambers
380 CIVIC DRIVE GALT, CALIFORNIA
A. CALL MEETING TO ORDER: Joshua Cullers, Chair, called meeting to order at 6:30 pm.
B. ROLL CALL: Adult Mentors Present: Goerzen, King, Mayor Vandenburg
Adult Mentors Absent: Fjeldstad, Lampson
Youth Members Present: Bowman ( arrived at 6:31) , Brixey, Bulahan, Murillo Cuevas,
Cullers, Jones, Lallian, Sandu
Youth Members Absent: Akers, Ortega
C. PUBLIC COMMENT: None
D. PRESENTATIONS: None
E. REGULAR BUSINESS:
1. Icebreaker
Adult Mentor King presented questions to Commissioners in which they answered.
2. Community Dinner
Former Mentor Leesa Klotz presented Christmas community dinner for Saturday, December
16 looking for 10 turkeys and servers for 1200 - 1500 people from 1-5 pm. Commissioners
moved to set aside $400 for turkeys.

3. Approval of minutes for the meeting of September 11, 2023
The minutes for the month of September were approved with the changes of punctuation.

4. Youth Commissioner Etiquette
Adult Mentor Goerzen led discussion on how to dress on dais, and other events and how to
represent commission. Commissioners and mentors then as a group discussed
professionalism.
5. Old Galt Festival
Chair Cullers led discussion on participation in the Old Galt Festival then other
commissioners reported on the event and turn out. Adult Mentor King read a statement of
appreciation from Shawn Farmer.
6. Lincoln Way Adopt a Street
Chair Cullers presented clean up dates for the next upcoming months.
7. Halloween event Participation
Commissioners decided to take part in the downtown trick or treat event but decided against
helping at the city movie night. Subcommittee was formed in the planning for the trick or
treat event, leader and subleader was Bulahan and Sandu and along with them on the
subcommittee was Lallian and Murillo Cuevas.

8. Yearly Activities vote to participate/select chairs
Commissioners began to plan out their year by choosing what events to participate in and sub
committees were formed for event planning for this year.
Senior technology help with Commission on Aging - Lead by Jones and Sandu helped by
Bowman and Bulahan
Library Project Amazon Wish list/book donation - Tabled
Eggstravaganza Fundraiser - Fundraising chair Lallian
Lighting of the Night - Led by Brixey helped by Jones, Cullers, and Murillo Cuevas
Independence Day Celebration - Tabled
Random Acts of Kindness - Tabled
Serve at the A-Z foundation Veterans Dinner - no subcommittee needed
Scholarships - Lallian, Bowman
Interact Fashion Show - Tabled

9. Future Agenda Items
Commissioners went over any items that need to be discussed at the next meeting including
reports from Jones on breakfast for special education students and reports on storage of
turkeys for Christmas dinner.
10. Around the Horn/Give Your Gratitude
Commissioners shared their appreciation and gratitude towards things in their lives.
Adjournment
Chair Cullers adjourned the meeting at 7:46 p.m.

C. PUBLIC COMMENT - Under Government Code Section 54954.3, members of the public may
address the commission on any item of interest to the public. Speakers may address commission on
any agenda item during consideration of the item. Please come to the podium and limit your
comments to three (3) minutes.

September Clean-up cancelled due to Galt Old Town Festival. October 21 and November 18th. Dec
cancelled. Invite friends.

City Movie night is Friday Oct 28th. Downtown Trick or Treat is Saturday Oct 29. Commission will
vote to participate in one and form decoration committee. Every commissioner needs to acquire
candy donations.
