City Of Galt Galt Youth Commission Special Meeting Minutes City Council Chambers, 380 Civic Drive Galt, California Monday, October 3, 2022, 6:30PM Mission Statement -Encourage the youth to participate in activities that are purposeful in building better citizens -Stimulate community service in Galt -Encourage family participation in building civil unity -Collaborate and organization devoted to the growth of the youth -Recognize that it takes all members of the community to sustain change for the betterment of our youth and families. A. Meeting Called to order at 6:31 B. ROLL CALL: Youth Commissioners: Akers, Brixey, Bulahan, Caron, Murillo Cuevas, Cullers, Gold, Kaur, Jones, Lallian Mentors Harris, Hill J, Hill M Lampson, Council Mayor Farmer Absent: Commissioner Caron, Mentor J. Hill. Mentor Matt Hill was absent and turned in resignation due to class schedule. Mentor Lampson left after opening due to work schedule. C. Public Comments - None D. Presentations - None E. Regular Business 1. Icebreaker Information Item Mentor Harris facilitated an icebreaker on active and collective listening. 2. Minutes from September 12, 2022— Action Item Motion made by Gold, second Murillo Cuevas. Approved 8-0. 3. Community Fair 4/15/2023 Action Item Commissioners formed a subcommittee to plan community outreach and assist in organizing this event. This subcommittee is led by Bulahan and includes Jones, Kaur, and Murillo-Cuevas. Motioned by Gold, seconded by Murillo Cuevas. Approved 8-0. 4. City Council Update Information Item Mayor Farmer shared information on small business loans, October being traffic awareness month, the campaign meet and greet / town hall held at Sunset Church 10/5, the 10/4 Council Meeting approving new K9 Units, as well as plans to update the city’s municipal codes and the goats being back to graze in Galt. 5. Project Planning for the Upcoming Year Action Item Subcommittee for the Halloween event led by Akers and Murillo Cueva formed. Commission motioned to allocate $100 for candy purchases for community Halloween event. Motioned by Cullers, seconded by Jones. Passed 8-0. The commission also discussed that information from the Aging Commission would be presented as public comment for the next meeting to put together a project. Mayor Farmer will reach out. Eggstravaganza - Commissioners Kaur and Akers formed a subcommittee to help lead and plan this event. All motion. Action Items not voted on that were on the agenda. • Animal service • Partner with Gilly’s Car Wash. • Partner with the Commission on Aging. • Paint Smud boxes. ARPA funds. • Blue Angel of Hope event Oct 22. • Escape room. • Zip lining. • Street cleaning-partner with Beautification Committee. • Education projects. Items were postponed and commissioners divided research on projects for the year for presentation and discussion at the November meeting. 7. Future Agenda Items Information Item Discuss future projects and commissioners will present their research. ● Gilly’s Car Wash - Jones ● Team Bonding / Escape Room or Ziplining - Gold ● Lighting of the Night ● Animal service - Akers / Kaur ● Painting SMUD - Mayor Farmer ● City Events - various ● Random Acts of Kindness - Gold Commission on Ageing-Farmer 8. Icebreaker Information Item Mentor Harris will facilitate an icebreaker. 2. Minutes from September 12, 2022 Action Item Commissioners will review and approve the minutes from the Sept meeting. 3. Community Fair 4/15/2023 Action Item Commission will form a sub committee 4 City Council Update Information Item Mayor Farmer will present this month’s update. 5.
