Measure R Citizens Oversight Committee

CITY OF GALT MEASURE R OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES ANTHONY PESCETTI COMMUNITY ROOM 455 INDUSTRIAL DRIVE, GALT, CALIFORNIA Wednesday, January 24, 2018, 6:00 PM Chair Cortez called the meeting to order at 6:00pm. The roll call found Cortez, Keagy, Klassen, Shelton and Talamantes present. We saluted the American Flag. Old Business: The minutes of the last meeting were presented. Shelton moved and Talamantes seconded to approve the minutes. The motion carried 5-0. Lt. Kalinowski presented the staff report and resolution (2014-36) authorizing the expenditure plan that included the hiring of the Professional Standards Officer position, as requested by the committee at the last meeting. New Business: The 2017/2018 Quarterly report was presented. Roundtable: Chief Sockman, Lt. Kalinowski and Lt. Dedriksen were present to answer questions. Klassen asked if the expenditures from the salary lines could be broken down, into separate lines, showing how much is being spent on actual Measure R employees and how much is being spent on non-Measure R employees. We said we’d ask. Keagy asked if the 16/17 year end numbers were available yet, so we could complete our Annual Report. We reported that as of January 18th, the Finance Director advised there were still adjustments being made. Several members asked if it was normal for it to take this long. We advised that it hadn’t taken this long in the past. The committee asked if we knew why, Lt. Kalinowski answered that delays are being caused by several vacancies in the Finance Department. Our next regular meeting will be at 6:00 PM Wednesday, April 25th, 2018. Meeting was adjourned at 6:20 pm.
