CITY OF GALT AGENDA PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES CITY HALL COUNCIL CHAMBERS 380 CIVIC DR., GALT CA 95632 June 14, 2017 AT 7:00 P.M. Chairperson: Joe Bitondo Commission: Angela DaPrato, Kelly Keagy, Chris Smith, Janice Williams 1. CALL MEETING TO ORDER at 7:00 p.m. 2. ROLL CALL: a. Commissioners Present: Keagy, Smith, Williams b. Commissioners Absent: DaPrato, Bitondo 3. CHANGES TO THE ORDER OF AGENDA 4. PUBLIC COMMENT: Under Government Code Section 54954.3, members of the public may address the commission on non-agenda items. Speakers may also address the commission on any agenda item during consideration of the item. Speakers shall restrict their comments to issues that are within the subject matter jurisdiction of the commission and limit comments to a maximum of five (5) minutes. Please fill out a speaker sheet located on the table inside the entrances to the council chambers and forward the completed speaker sheet to the commission secretary. Please state your name and city of residence prior to making your comments. 5. ACCEPTANCE OF MINUTES FOR THE MEETING OF March 23, 2017. a. Minutes of the Meeting of March 23, 2017. All in favor, minutes accepted. 6. PRESENTATIONS None 7. OLD BUSINESS a. Community Park Playground Update 1) Engineers estimate reviewed, total estimate $94,872 with City installing most of the structures. 2) Formal bid will be handled by Public Works. 3) Looking in to possible piggy back contract with US Communities. 4) To be installed by mid-September. GALT PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION AGENDA MEETING OF JUNE 14, 2017 Page 2 8. NEW BUSINESS a. Grass Field Lights at Walker Park – Informational 1) Signed contract, orders to proceed with work given. 2) Construction to start July 17, 2017. 3) Scheduled to be completed by August 12, 2017 due to County Line Youth Soccer League Soccer Fest scheduled for August 12, 2017. 4) Lights will be on Control Link system. b. Walker Park 1B Update – Informational 1) Original estimate $3.5 million, new engineers estimate is $4.1 million. 2) May be modifying amenities. Will bring back to Commission with informational update. 3) Enhancements to include: 2 baseball fields, artificial turf and parking lot. 9. UPCOMING COUNCIL AGENDA ITEMS a. Landscape Service Contract – Informational 1) Procida Landscape, Inc. awarded the Landscape Service Contract. 2) This is a 2 year contract with (3) 1 year extensions available. 10. UPCOMING EVENTS a. IDC Festival – Saturday July 1, 2017 • Sponsors – Cal Waste, PG&E, SMUD, Softcom, Galt Chamber • 5K – Sponsors BIA and Kaiser • Parade - Official route will be used, same as the Lighting of the Night Parade route • Veterans Field – Entertainment by Michael Beck Band and Kid Zone • Fireworks in the pool – Fireworks by J&M start at 9:30 p.m. 11. STAFF COMMENTS a. Busy will softball, tournaments and IDC planning. b. Budget goes to City Council 6/20/17 for approval. c. Sports under Recreation completely, will now be under Monica Lopez.
