CITY OF GALT PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES ANTHONY PESCETTI COMMUNITY ROOM 455 INDUSTRIAL DRIVE, GALT, CALIFORNIA MONDAY, March 24, 2014, 6:00 PM Vice Mayor Singleton called the meeting to order at 6:00pm. The roll call found Singleton, Lagge, Doak, Bezanson, Crews, and Shelton present. We saluted the American Flag. The minutes of the last meeting were presented to all members in advance; no changes were recommended. Shelton moved that the minutes be accepted, Bezanson seconded. Motion carried. ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION: Road conditions at Simmerhorn and north bound Hwy 99 were discussed along with where the responsibility for repair and upkeep belongs. Gwen noted to repairs are too big an undertaking for the tentative new gas station in the area to undertake. Shelton suggested a Council member contact Cal Trans. Crews agreed to make that contact and report back at the next meeting. Water Pump Repairs: Gwen advised that the residents were not affected by the repairs, the repairs are complete and we are waiting for certification. Weed Abatement: Lagge is concerned about the lack of week abatement I the area of a 13 acre parcel at Adare Way. The tall weeds are providing shelter and concealment for illegal activity. Shelton suggested a Council member contact the 2 x 2 Board. Singleton agreed to contact the appropriate responsible parties and report back at the next meeting. Mosquito Abatement: Singleton passed out a brochure regarding abatement. Abandoned Cars & Expired Tags: Singleton advised this is a law enforcement issue and not a committee concern. Lt. Vizzusi concurred advising of the usual route the PD takes to abate such vehicles. Squeeze In parking lot lighting: Gwen updated the committee on the lighting requirements when commercial sites are established. After that, the lighting maintenance on private property is the responsibility of the property owner and/or tenants. Speed Limit near Walker Park: Gwen advised a speed survey in that area had already been completed. ROUND TABLE: Singleton introduced the new “Galt Connect” app and encouraged everyone to check it out. Lt. Vizzusi reminded everyone that Tip411 is a very valuable way to stay informed and encouraged everyone to sign up and pass the word. Lt. Vizzusi distributed a copy of the press release warning everyone about the PG & E fraud/scam going around, encouraging everyone to be cautious with their personal information. Our next meeting will be at 6:00 PM Monday, May 19th , 2014 Meeting was adjourned at 6:37 PM.
