PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE MEETING
MINUTES
ANTHONY PESCETTI COMMUNITY ROOM
455 INDUSTRIAL DRIVE, GALT, CALIFORNIA
Wednesday, January 20, 2016, 6:00 PM
Mayor Crews called the meeting to order at 6:02pm.
The roll call found Crews, Dahlgren, Lagge, and Shelton present.
We saluted the American Flag.
The minutes of the last meeting were presented to all members. The motion to approve
made by Shelton, seconded by Lagge, carried by unanimous vote.
ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION:
A Lt. Kalinowski reported back on our Traffic Officers’ activity in the area of
McCaffrey and River Oaks schools. The group discussed traffic concerns in the
areas around the schools.
B Lt. Kalinowski reported back on the signage and enforcement for Left turns
out of Raley’s.
C The group briefly discussed fireworks and agreed we want to be more
proactive with strategic points, education and prosecution.
D Lt. Kalinowski gave the group an update on the Casino efforts noting that the
Departments questions, comments and concerns would be submitted by the
consultant in February.
ROUND TABLE:
The Orr Road and Sparrow intersection was discussed as a citizen is adamant that a
stop light is needed there.
Mr. Dahlgren asked for tips on identifying where illegal fireworks are coming from.
Mr. Dahlgren asked if our Department employee numbers were keeping up or
would we be needing to hire more. Mayor Crews advised there were plans to have
a new employment study done City wide and that the study should answer those
types of questions.
Our next meeting will be at 6:00 PM Wednesday, May 25, 2016.
Meeting was adjourned at 6:46pm.

A) FOLLOW UP: The traffic around both McCaffrey Middle School and
River Oaks Elementary schools is becoming dangerous for pedestrians during
school hours. McCaffrey & River Oaks: was referred to Traffic Officers
Recommended Action: Review and take action as deemed appropriate.
B) FOLLOW UP: How are we enforcing the “Left turn (westbound) from west exit
in the Raley's parking lot to Twin Cities Road”
Recommended Action: Review and take action as deemed appropriate.
C) FIREWORKS: Strategic Points/education/prosecution
Recommended Action: Review and take action as deemed appropriate.
D) FOLLOW UP: Casino study/progress
