CITY OF GALT PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES ANTHONY PESCETTI COMMUNITY ROOM 455 INDUSTRIAL DRIVE, GALT, CALIFORNIA Wednesday, March 28, 2016, 6:00 PM Mayor Crews called the meeting to order at 6:04pm. The roll call found Crews, Dahlgren, Doak, Lagge, Powers, Shelton and Willmon present. Mr. Dahlgren led us as we saluted the American Flag. The minutes of the last meeting were presented to all members. The motion to approve made by Dahlgren, seconded by Lagge, carried by unanimous vote. ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION: A Lt. Kalinowski reported on the staffing plan for the Independence Day weekend and fireworks, sharing that one Fire Marshal will be on hand as well as one of our officers dedicated to the festivities. Kalinowski added that we will use our P.O.P. Team ahead of time as well. Mr. Lagge shared that the Real Men’s Club will be holding a Veteran’s BBQ on Friday, July 1st at the Best Western. B Gwen Owens reported on the “Education” phase of the Railroad Quiet Zone, offering a phone number for citizens to use to report noise after the grace period. ROUND TABLE: Randy Shelton spoke about the animal lost & found efforts on Facebook, noting there was a found pit bull currently listed. Gwen Owens updated us on the possibility of a cross walk at Carillion and Lake Park noting that often this affords a false sense of security to pedestrians and can do more harm than good. It had been brought up at council and Gwen plans to contact that citizen. Ralph Doak mentioned the overgrown foliage at south bound Carillion and Vauxhal, noting drivers cannot see past the foliage. Gwen Owens look at the sight distance triangle and report back. We introduced Chief Tod Sockman who said his first week on the job found the community to be very welcoming. Our meeting scheduled for May 25, 2016 was cancelled due to lack of agenda items. Our next meeting will be at 6:00 PM Monday, July 25, 2016. Meeting was adjourned at 6:23pm.
