PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE MEETING
MINUTES
ANTHONY PESCETTI COMMUNITY ROOM
455 INDUSTRIAL DRIVE, GALT, CALIFORNIA
Monday, July 26, 2021, 6:00 PM
The meeting was called to order at approximately 6:02pm by Mayor Farmer.
Committee Members present were: Farmer, McCord, Sandhu, Schamber, Reed, Cates
and Schopf.
We pledged allegiance to the American Flag.
PUBLIC COMMENT:
ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION:
1. The minutes from the June 16, 2021 meeting were reviewed and approved
by motion from Cates and second by McCord and unanimous vote.
2. The Public Safety Committee Annual Report was presented by Interim Police
Chief, Richard Small. McCord volunteered to present the report at Council.
Reed moved and Schamber seconded to approve the report as presented.
The motion carried by unanimous vote.
3. Traffic Concerns:
* Meadowview Park area traffic, parking and pedestrian issues were
discussed. Small advised the south side of Kost is the County’s responsibility.
Selling offered the results of tube tests performed in the area of Kost and
Meadowview. Options were discussed. Numbers of Calls for service were
requested.
* North bound traffic on S. Lincoln at Melodee Lane was discussed.
The area of Crow Creek and Cardosa becoming a thoroughfare was
discussed.
* Carillion and Vauxhall traffic was discussed.
* Pedestrian safety at F Street and Lincoln was discussed.
* Information on the number of collisions at 4th & C Streets, 2nd & C Streets, 1st
& Pestana Streets and on Caroline was requested to be brought back at the
next meeting.
* Traffic concerns being reported was discussed.
* Educating the public versus writing tickets was discussed.
* Signage at 1st and F Streets seem to contradict. Selling agreed and will
look into possibly grinding it off the roadway.
4. Next meeting: West Nile, Wilder Way and Body Worn Cameras.
Next meeting is scheduled for September 27, 2021.
With no further business, Mayor Farmer adjourned the meeting at 7:18pm

CORONAVIRUS DISEASE (COVID-19) ADVISORY
To protect our constituents, City officials and City staff, the City requests all members of the public to follow the California
Department of Health Services’ guidance and the County of Sacramento Public Health Officer Order for the Control of
COVID-19 restricting group events and gatherings and maintaining social distancing. Additional information regarding
COVID-19 is available on the City’s website at www.ci.galt.ca.us. Consistent with Executive Order N-29-20, the meeting
will be held via teleconference/electronically and the Committee Members will participate via teleconference/electronically.
In-person participation by the public will not be permitted and no physical location from which the public may observe the
meeting will be available. Remote public participation is available in the following ways:

during public comment. If you have issues submitting a public comment via email, please contact the Police Department
