4:30 Meeting called to order.
4:31 The minutes from January 22, 2024 will be reviewed and approved at the next meeting.
4:32 Hearing:
5:01 Old Business: We've completed the erosion control project at the landfill. The pump
cleaning projects, and all the brush and yard waste grinding, have been done. We're just
working on the next phase which will be some plans to improve the drainage of the
transfer station as well as hopefully the facility and get some more permanent stuff there.
We're also looking at costs for curbside recycling. We're most likely going to have to raise
the costs to keep up with our costs and try to get people to move more into the Pay As You
Throw bags rather than an additional toter to try and reduce waste.
8-12 Nichols Street, the roof was repaired a week and a half ago. Now we're just working
on the rest of the order which is to correct interior conditions inside that came about from
the leak.
The church directory at 166 Cross Street that we had condemned because it was being
used as a congregate living facility, was reinspected with the Building Department.
Condemnation was lifted to allow for Sunday school to take place on the first floor. They
successfully relocated all the families.
BOH responded to a call from the Fire Department due to a small fire in an apartment on
Conant St. The unit was deemed unfit for habitation and the occupant was relocated to
Motel 6 with help of COA and CAC.
We’ve reached out to the Assistant Attorney General’s office and are looking into
receivership eligibility for abandoned properties in Gardner.
The former Jade 2 has now reopened as Four Season Chinese Cuisine.
The Latin Market will open as soon as the Occupancy Permit is issued.
Crown Fried Chicken was ordered to close as they had not applied to renew their food
permit by the expiration date. The application was completed, and they were permitted to
reopen.
We’re in the process of training the new Housing Inspector.
Angela has completed her Title 5 System Inspector and Soil Evaluator Trainings.
Micah has completed his Lead Determinator Training.
5:03 New Business:
5:11 Next meeting: Monday, February 26, 2024 at 4:30 PM here at Gardner City Hall in the
Mayor’s Conference Room; adjourn.
