COUNCIL CAUCUS MEETING MINUTES CITY OF GARFIELD HEIGHTS, OHIO Monday, January 13, 2020 Council President Matt Burke called the Caucus Meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. Members Present: Jason Blake, Councilman Ward 5 Matt Burke, Councilman Ward 6 Shayla Davis, Councilwoman Ward 4 Charles Donahue, Councilman Ward 2 Michael Dudley, Sr., Councilman Ward 1 Michael Nenadovich, Councilman Ward 3 Tom Vaughn, Councilman Ward 7 Clmn Blake moved to accept the Minutes of the Caucus Meeting for Monday, December 9, 2019 as written. The Minutes stood approved by 6 Yeas (Blake, Burke, Vaughn, Donahue, Nenadovich, Davis) and 1 Present (Dudley) votes. Clmn Nenadovich would dispose of the Minutes of the Regular Council Meeting of December 9, 2019. Clmn Vaughn planned to give a Finance Committee Report. ORDINANCE NO. 01-2020 Clmn Vaughn advised that he would move to consider by title. ORDINANCE NO. 02-2020 Clmn Nenadovich advised that he would move to consider by title. ORDINANCE NO. 03-2020 Clmn Blake advised that he would move to consider by title. ORDINANCE NO. 04-2020 Clwn Davis advised that she would move to consider by title. ORDINANCE NO. 05-2020 Clmn Nenadovich advised that he would move to consider by title. RESOLUTION NO. 01-2020 Clmn Dudley advised that he would move to consider by title. Clwn Davis questioned whether it was efficient and the best allocation of resources for Council packets to be printed, e-mailed and delivered to Council Members by the Police Department. A general discussion followed as the Members expressed their individual preferences for electronic/hard copies of legislation. In conclusion, future packets would be e-mailed on Thursday and the Councilpersons would pick up their packets from the police station, which is open 24/7, on Friday. Clmn Dudley announced that the Garfield Heights High School Varsity Basketball team had accepted a challenge from the city to play an exhibition game as a fundraiser for the Garfield Heights High athletic department. He encouraged every Member of Council to participate in some way, whether as coaches, trainers, players, etc. to form a 20-man team and invited every city department to participate. A date had not yet been scheduled. Clmn Nenadovich proposed trying to obtain some free space in the Neighborhood News to insert a short article called “Did You Know? He would, for example, state Ordinance xyz. Then, did you know what this means? This means you cannot park on the grass. He would bring up a different ordinance each week. Council voted unanimously to create such an article. Clwn Davis intended to organize a meeting of the Communication and Technology Committee. 1 There were no written communications to Council. Clmn Nenadovich moved to adjourn the Caucus Meeting, Clmn Blake seconded and the motion stood approved unanimously.
