MINUTES OF THE GILBERT TOWN COUNCIL, IN SPECIAL MEETING OF THURSDAY JUNE 20,
2019 AT 5:00 PM, MUNICIPAL CENTER 1, ROOM 233 50 E CIVIC CENTER DRIVE, GILBERT,
ARIZONA
COUNCIL PRESENT: Mayor Jenn Daniels, Vice Mayor Eddie Cook,
Councilmembers Scott Anderson, Brigette Peterson,
Jordan Ray, and Aimee Yentes
COUNCIL ABSENT: Councilmember Jared Taylor
STAFF PRESENT: Deputy Town Manager Mary Goodman, Town Clerk Lisa
Maxwell, and Town Attorney Christopher Payne
CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Daniels called the meeting to order at 5:04 p.m.
RECESS SPECIAL MEETING AND RECONVENE IN EXECUTIVE SESSION
A MOTION was made by Councilmember Brigette Peterson, seconded by Councilmember
Jordan Ray, to recess to Executive Session pursuant to
a) A.R.S. §§ 38-431.03(A)(3) and (4), legal advice from the Town Attorney and discussion
and consultation with Town representatives concerning contemplated litigation involving
pharmaceutical companies for damages due to the opioid abuse epidemic;
b) A.R.S. §§ 38-431.03(A)(3) and (7), legal advice from the Town Attorney and
discussion and consultation with Town representatives concerning the sale of a parcel of
land near Mustang Way and Germann Road;
c) A.R.S. § 38-431.03(A)(3), (4), legal advice from the Town Attorney and discussion and
consultation with Town representatives concerning regarding the impacts of SB1140 and
potential litigation;
d) A.R.S. §§ 38-431.03(A)(3) legal advice from the Town Attorney concerning employment
policy recommendations and employment matters; and
e) A.R.S. §§ 38-431.03(A)(3) (4), and (7), legal advice from the Town Attorney and
discussion and consultation with Town representatives concerning the sale of two parcels
of land located on Ray Road between Val Vista Drive and Greenfield Road.
Motion carried 6-0.

Mayor Daniels reconvened the meeting at 6:30 p.m.

NOTICE TO PARENTS: Parents and legal guardians have the right to consent before the
Town of Gilbert makes a video or voice recording of a minor child. A.R.S. 1-602.A.9. Gilbert
Council Meetings are recorded and maybe viewed on Channel 11 and the Gilbert website.
If you permit your child to participate in the Council Meeting, a recording will be made. If
your child is seated in the audience your child may be recorded, but you may request that
your child be seated in a designated area to avoid recording. Please submit your request to
the Town Clerk.
