MINUTES OF THE GILBERT TOWN COUNCIL, IN REGULAR MEETING OF TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 15, 2020 AT 5:00 PM, MUNICIPAL CENTER I, ROOM 233 50 E CIVIC CENTER DRIVE, GILBERT, ARIZONA COUNCIL PRESENT: Mayor Scott Anderson, Vice Mayor Yung Koprowski, Councilmembers Scott September, Bill Spence, Jared Taylor, Kathy Tilque, and Aimee Yentes COUNCIL ABSENT: None STAFF PRESENT: Town Manager Patrick Banger, Town Clerk Lisa Maxwell, Deputy Clerk Chaveli Herrera, Town Attorney Christopher Payne AGENDA ITEM CALL TO ORDER Mayor Anderson called the meeting to order at 5:02 p.m. RECESS SPECIAL MEETING AND RECONVENE IN EXECUTIVE SESSION A MOTION was made by Councilmember Spence, seconded by Councilmember September, to recess the special meeting and reconvene in Executive Session: a) Pursuant to A.R.S. §§ 38-431.03(A)(3), (4), legal advice from the Town Attorney and discussion and consultation with Town representatives concerning utility connections to leased property near Queen Creek Road and 156th Street; and b) Pursuant to A.R.S. §38-431.03(A)(1) for discussion and direction on process for recruitment, interview and/or selection of the Town Clerk, and c) Pursuant to A.R.S. § 38-431.03(A)(3), legal advice from the Town Attorney concerning legal aspects of potential implementation of the Smart and Safe Arizona Act, and d) Pursuant to A.R.S. § 38-431.03(A)(3), legal advice from the Town Attorney concerning litigation entitled Hendrix v. Town of Gilbert, Maricopa County.
