2018 4th of July Committee
Conference Phone Call Meeting
Present:
Jenna Kunde Eric Zentner Bethanie Gist
Jessica Ballweg Marty Hersh
Ann Deuser Sarah Acker
Mary Lynn Cinealis Tom Cinealis
Volunteers – Jenna mentioned that we’re really short on volunteers. There are only committee members and
the Kastners and Michelle Kornitz. Bethanie is contacting last year’s volunteers and seeing if she can get the
Winn-Beavers again. Ann D. said she could put something on the Nicolet Parent Page to try to get volunteers,
but she can’t really reach the students. Ann will also post on Facebook that we are looking for volunteers.
Jessica said DPW will be helping us on the third and fourth. There will be a limited number of full-time
employees.
Setup - On July 3, we will be setting up noon to 4pm; tables, chairs, tablecloths, etc. Then we will set up for the
parade. Jessica wants to prestage the parade on the third. Tom has the parade staging flags. Tom and Mary
Lynn will move most of the cars Wednesday night. They will also drop off a 10’ x 10’ canopy. Hotlining is
finished. No parking signs are out. Snow fencing is going up tomorrow. Barricades are out. Jessica said we’re
good with porta potties, tapper trailer. Marty will go to Sprecher to pick up the root beer. Marty has Anderson’s
coming with the corn roaster b/t 2-4. Marty said he would check to confirm that John Figesthaler will bring the
hose to fill the dunk tank and if John can see when the dunk tank is coming so that DPW can hopefully do the
dunk-tank fence right away when the dunk tank comes (DPW works till 3:30pm). Eric will pick up the Scout
trailer from Good Hope School and bring it to the park.
Layout/Beer Trailer - The Brick, the Scouts and the beer/soda trailer will be on the north, short side of the
mega tent facing south. If they are facing south, serving, then their “kitchen” areas are north of the tent behind
them and we need snow fencing to block their “kitchen” areas to the north. The stage can only be on a long
(east or west) side of the megatent – the stage will be on the east side of the tent. We need to have snow
fencing on hand and put it up after the trailer, Scouts and The Brick are in place. Tom suggested that the
person delivering the beer should have the phone # of the person from the Brick receiving the beer so there’s
no middle man. Bethanie/Jessica said they’d make sure this happens.
Jessica said the beer is coming with the trailer (on the third). We will power the trailer on the third while we’re
there, and then turn off the power overnight and then turn it back on early in the morning of the 4th.
We have seven 10x10 tents. We are not renting a second tent from Canopies. Marty said Jenna could use the
Scouts’ double-wide canopy tent because the scouts will be under the mega tent. Jenna said we will put the
magician(s) and balloon guy under the double-wide tent. Ann will have the big Welcome to Glendale tent set
up early.
Ann D. said we again need to set aside a VIP area just south of the parking lot. Jessica will ask DPW to mark
this off with caution tape.
Do we need a barrier along foul lines to keep people from walking across the baseball field? Jessica will ask
DPW to put snow fencing along the baselines about 50’ beyond first and third bases.
July 4 cars – Mary Lynn believes she now has all the drivers she needs. After parade, drivers just park the
cars where they got them (behind city hall and police station) and leave the keys with Jessica who will be
there. The gospel radio station said they need a driver, and Ann D. had asked them if they could provide one.

They’ve been hard to work with (and media organizations are often like this) so we should have a media
contract in the future.
Veteran’s Salute - Jenna will reach out to Norbert Widdle to reiterate and confirm everything.
Cake: Ann will order it at a Glendale business. Jenna has plates and forks and will bring knives and serving
utensils. Hopefully Ann M. has gotten cake-serving volunteers.
Fireworks: Ann D. said that Gus from First Bank Financial Centre, the fireworks sponsor, wants to speak to
the crowd right before the fireworks. Tom suggested that Bryan should introduce Gus. Jessica will ask Bryan if
he would introduce Gus.
Uber/Lyft: Ann D. said that Lyft and Uber signs will be at Silver Spring House.
Bingo: Ann is doing Bingo from 4-5. Jessica will help with Bingo and can help with bounce houses too.
Road access: Jessica said the police dept had trouble with elected officials trying to get through the
roadblocks at Bender and Green Tree. If they don’t get in before 9:45 am, they can’t enter until after the main
parade with a parking pass. Jessica asked Jenna to send an email out to this effect. Jenna will do this.
Parade lineup: Tom suggested we send out a map so the elected officials should go to Florist and Green Bay
to enter the end of the parade line (not Civic, because that’s the beginning of the line). Jessica said we will
have officers at Civic and Green Bay and Florist and Green Bay. Tom suggested the police have a list of
committee members and parade acts.
Bucks: Jenna said that the Bucks are sending someone to run a 1-hour basketball clinic from 12:30-1:30 and
we invited the Nicolet basketball team, but we haven’t heard from any of them. Jenna just wants the committee
to know. Tom asked if they have their own sign or of we’re providing one. He also suggested we let them know
that we won’t have a tent for them. Jenna said we don’t have a sign for them and will follow up with them on
both of these things.
Port a Potties: Bethanie asked Jessica to make sure there are handicapped port a potties. Jessica will call
tomorrow to check on this.
Games: Marty said Brian Thompson from bounce house will be there between 7 and 8 am on the 4th. He also
has confirmation of softball 1pm and 2pm, for younger kids, not high school.
Talent Show – Sarah said that there’s only one person signed up in the high-school category. Sarah said we
need a keyboard. Sarah said she will ask Kid boogie Down if they have a keyboard and let Eric know because
Eric will get one from Brass Bell if they don’t. We now have three judges for the talent show. We will still take
additional high-school students if they want to sign up. Bethanie will ask Sam to spread the news on Snapchat.
Stages – Sarah said the magician can’t be under anything due to fire, but he also asked for shade. He can
step out of the tent if he wants to.
Invoices – Ann D. said Kayla has them and has to generate them (hopefully before she leaves)
Booklets: Sarah said that she hasn’t received a booklet at her house yet. Marty said the weather slowed
delivery. Tom and Mary Lynn said they just got theirs today. Jenna said there are two neighborhoods that don’t
have anyone signed up to deliver them. If a committee member can do this, please let Steve S. know. Jenna
will deliver booklets to area businesses, Summer Academy and the library.
Meeting ended at 8:01pm

like to continue to elevate the parade (bands needed!), we will only have one large tent rather than two tents, and we
will bring back softball. Also, The Brick will replace Sprecher as our burger/beer vendor.
